First 2026 NCAA tournament bracketology has Iowa as an eight seed

But wait I thought if you got rid of Fran the next season would go downward, crater, be a dumpster fire etc. regardless of the new coach working out in the end?

What I am looking forward to is the true hope of advancing is back. If things go to plan and no injuries or other issues and we get back in. Not Mr. Davis never lost in the first round confidence but not the fear of the other shoe dropping behind our blind rooting interest with Fran as a 8, 9, or 10 seed. We root and talked about how we will win outwardly but those doubts were there just below the surface.

I hate to say it, but what I'm looking for is the thought that if we have a truly great season (talking top 5 finish in conference play) we could see our recruiting take off to levels we never say with Fran simply because if Fran was around this season and managed to pull it off it would fall into the "they'll just fall back to earth" next year category. A breath of new life in a stale product could really help us take off and reach the next level and I simply don't see that happening under the old regime regardless of what kind of season they had.
