Sad but true. Some years, 8 is a good total. This year? 9 was a bare minimum given the offensive skill players and defense. 8 might as well be 6-6. Just pathetic given the ways they found to lose games. Frustrating, but we’ve had more frustration than we have real success under Kirk.
 
If he didn't get a bonus and it was part of his base salary, no one would say anything, and he'd make roughly the same amount as the 4-8 douche out west makes.
 
To me, it's actually a good structure. A lot of coaches get "this" amount. KF gets a certain amount and then has to "earn" the rest. Instead of Gary saying "I'm going to give you 5 mill per year, here's 4.5 mill and I'll give you the rest when you win 2/3 of your games.

The complaints can come from the amount, but it would be easy for him to say here's your 5 million, no bonuses.
 
With KFs cupcake schedule, and non Conf layups of 3 wins, plus an Illinois, Indiana every year...a monkey with boxing gloves can win 7 every year.
Staff tried their hardest to piss away the win today, fortunately the Cornholers suck.

I'd be ok with it if it was $500k for 10 wins. I might even be ok with $250k for 9 wins. $500k for 8 wins is irresponsible.

Interested in your definition of a lot. There are only 13 coaches that make $5 mil a year. 500k isn’t his only bonus. Not even close. His max bonus structure is 2.8 mil. Only one coach in all of CFB has higher and with 2 other coaches close to that amount.

There are so many things wrong with this post
 
Just read some of his current contract online. See below;

Base of $2,570,000
Top 25, $125k bonus and top 20, $150k bonus
Grad rate of 80%, $100k bonus
8 wins, $500k bonus
employed on Jan. 31st, $650k longevity bonus
University provides 2 cars for him and his wife

Looks like it's a possibility Ferentz could receive bonuses this season totaling $1,475,00.

Is he worth this much? Talk among yourselves.

I looked up coaches salaries, and most of them make a set amount with smaller bonuses. My post wasn't about amount, but about contract structure. I feel that complaints should be about amount, not structure.
 
Sure was a great win today. But I did not cheer because I am told that KF makes too much $$. Damn.

You know full well what we mean. Believe me I was excited when we won. A win is a win against the fuskers. But you cannot reasonably look at the way this team lost the ways that they did this season and not be frustrated. They won’t always go our way, but every game was winnable, and they found ways to piss each of those games away. The difference between a West Title and Rose Bowl birth and playing the second third or fourth best Pac-12 team in the Holiday Bowl is huge. Really no excuse not to be in a New Years Six game this year given the team that was fielded and the schedule, yet here we are.
