Maybe we can't get rid of Ferentz, but we can (and should) get rid of the AD who is the reason we can't get rid of Ferentz.
Did I recently read Iowa had the fewest B10 championships in all sports overt the last few years?
Aren't all of these these problems a reflection on the job performance of the AD? Why is he still the AD with this level of incompetence?

His termination would send a message that change is coming.
That alone may shake things up.
 
Agreed. He should be gone, based on the overall state of athletics of Iowa.
Once gone, Kirk should pay Barta his salary that he'll lose.

Fran looks like a good hire, but not as strong as we thought a couple of years ago.
 
Let's look at the root cause on this issue. Everything Sally Mason has learned about athletics she has learned from Gary Barta...sad but true. She wouldn't know how to find her arse in this area even if you put her in a mirrored room.

Iowa is a nice place with nice people and Gary is a nice guy who tries hard. Why would we fire him? What's wrong with you people...you are not happy unless someone is going down.
 
WinOne in case you didn't know.Barta was responsible for giving KF the biggest one sided contract in NCAA sports which makes us the laughing stock of the NCAA. That alone deserves his firing. He sure was not looking out for Iowa's interest.
 
Kirk is the AD and Gary is co chair. Firing Gary isn't gonna do much, we need Kirk out to see change in the football department. Do I think Gary can find the right guy, probably not? He'd go calling to SDSU which that coach is riding Jerry Kill's coat tails. Skeptical of his ability to hire but at this point I'd take Paul Rhoads over Kirk.
 
Yes. Barta has done a very mediocre job as Iowa's AD. If your heads of the athletics accepts average then the ones below him will. Perfect example, Kirk Ferentz. Nuff said ;)
 
Let's not even begin the **** show he has done with the Iowa basketball program.... Look at his hires there and what our Mens basketball team has done, it's pathetic.

You just let another one go through your legs. Now read the below sentences with a sarcastic tone in your head. I was hoping the Sally Mason finding her butt would set the tone...but I guess not.

Sally has to go first. Her hires(mostly women) have made every department weaker than it was before. She is easily the worst UI President of recent history.

Safe call here since the vast majority of HN posters are men. Geez, if women were more representative of the board, you may set a record for thumbs down...actually it may break the system. LOL.
