"He blocks like an offensive lineman," Mewhort said. "Big and powerful. He just cleans dudes up."

"If you don't watch yourself, he'll plant you," said Fiedorowicz's college teammate, Iowa LB Christian Kirksey. "He gets those big hands on you and doesn't let up."

Fiedorowicz also has used those big hands to catch the ball consistently throughout the week, and he's shown enough speed to get noticed as a second-level receiver.

He credits his NFL-steeped coaching staff for getting him to this place, and he can't help but think he's as prepared as anyone down here because of it.

"They ran practices the same way [the Atlanta Falcons'] coaches are running it here," Fiedorowicz said. "I am very comfortable with the way they are doing things, and I am just enjoying the experience so far."

But he also can't help but think of what Hernandez went through, and Fiedorowicz knows he took a valuable lesson in their one year together.

"You know, that guy [Hernandez] is a tough dude," Fiedorowicz said. "I don't know that I could have held myself together so well. I just had a lot of respect for him and how he handled things."

Fiedorowicz has turned himself into a very good run blocker, probably one of the best in his draft class. He had some lapses here and there last season, but overall I thought he did a great job. Most scouting reports you read on him would likely say the same thing.

Wish the Bears could draft CJ....he grew up a Bears fan and they need to add one for the blocking role that CJ excels at....but alas, the Bears need to use every draft pick on defense.

Saw him open plenty of times across the middle in 2013. Targeting the middle a little more next year could pay big dividends for the Hawks. Who is going to step into CJ's role in 2014?

I think he caught at least one pass in a whole bunch of games in a row. That is the kind of thing scouts look for.

Iowa TEs being completely open (and completely ignored) over the middle was the main storyline for our passing game the last two seasons. Too bad Sideline Davis never read that tale.

KF has cred with the NFL scouts, no doubt. He evidently gushed about Kirksey, and then Christian went out and played well in the Senior Bowl practices. There is a reason that KF does not give phony endorsements...it would hurt future Hawk pro prospects.
