Ferments Q&A

---------The thing with Derrick Mitchell, I don't think he played the other day. Is he just kind of out of the mix? KIRK FERENTZ: He's our third guy. We're trying to work Akrum and LeShun as much possible, and it's hard to spread it around more than two guys, especially right now both those two guys are playing very well.

WHAT?????? Maybe I'm not being fair, and he is correct....I guess it is somewhat hard to spread the ball around when you are always 3 and out....you know, the 2 runs to the short side followed by a 3 yard comeback pattern 4 yards short of the sticks. What the hell do i know anyway,,,,I'm just a rank Amateur....SNORT!!!

Another case of derKirkFer's myopic (mis)management of personnel. If the square peq doesn't fit in the round pigeon-hole, it doesn't fit anywhere. Just shake your head and walk away.

In fact, so many here criticize the media for not asking the tough questions and / or being more critical. I think they should take the opposite approach ... just stop asking, interviewing, showing up for pressers, etc. Nothing new to learn; constant, bland coach-speak; usually some discombobulated rationale that fuels the "WTF?!" perception of his competence.

Rather than worrying about being "black-balled", a pre-emptive strike that says, "You're not newsworthy and we're really not interested in what you have to say." Maybe that public shunning of the derKirkFer would promote his coaching "death" quicker than a public attack. I know my brain cells and blood pressure would appreciate it.

In my eyes, spreading the ball around involves going to multiple players like 8-12. I don't think two players is spreading the ball around. Perhaps that's the problem.

Pure speculation, but this smells of a doghouse situation.

so, what's wrong with having him be a WR. last time I checked Iowa wasn't exactly stacked in that department

Yea, really doesn't make sense when you really think about it. This a player who started out as WR, went to RB, back to WR, RB, etc.. So, obviously he's a versatile player. You can't find a way to use him in the slot or WR??? WTF?
It shows that the Iowa coaching staff is not very creative, IMO.

I think that's kind of happen in a way, look at the time slot and channels Iowa typically gets slotted to play. They know its a boring bland kind of football. Add in Iowa's piss poor performance and record this year. Yes, this weeks game is at night on ABC, but I bet now they regret scheduling that months ago.

Parker is another guy who qualifies here as well. I know he was hurt but has been dressing since the Minnesota game. He's probably the fastest guy on the team but since he doesn't fit KFs mold of an RB or WR he doesn't play. Even though he's one of only two guys on the offensive roster who is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.

Guys, it's a process. Both Parker, Mitchell, and Boyle really need to learn the Slant route a bit better. Don't worry, they'll get some playing time when we have a big enough lead on someone.

So never.
