Nice, its hard to get in that battle with any team hes considering, but if you look at o-line, thats probably better

You are mocking their NFL flameouts, and you add Robert Gallery to our list?

Also, Greene was not one of the 6 finalists for the Pepsi ROY award, and Harvin already won the AP award, of which Greene did not get a vote.

that must have felt good.

You got your one shot in on the Hawkeyes for the day so you can kick back and relax the rest of the workday and its not even 10 am yet!!

Gotta make sure you try to let everyone know your grand perspective of sports outside of the Hawks, eh?

lol your so predictable.

Robert Gallery, who was the HIGHEST PAID Oakland Raider, when he signed his contract AND is the starting right guard for that fine organization, is hardly a flameout.

You need a REALITY checker/editer, before you hit enter to make posts :rolleyes:

And Beanie Wells, Santonio Holmes, Ted Ginn, and Anthony Gonzales are all starters for good NFL teams.

I am just trying to understand what the OP was trying to say? Most of the OSU players he listed were more successful than Gallery has been. I am all for pumping up the Hawks, but not at the expense of making another team look badm, and certainly not at the expense of the truth.

If Kirk tried to make the OP's argument to Henderson, Tressel would rip it to shreads.

In Gallery's defense, he's played under at least 4 different o-line coaches, several head coaches and systems, changed positions and techniques, battled injuries and is stuck in the most disfunctional organization in pro football. I think his stature would have been elevated just playing in a more stable envirnment, i.e. just about any other team. Having said that, the man has perservered and the man got paid! If you expected him to be the NFL All Pro left tackle then you're disappointed. But the average stay in the NFL is about 3 years. Considering the adversity he's faced in the Al Davis theatre of the absurd, I think he's done remarkably well. A great Hawkeye and a great football player!
Go Hawks!

This would not be a good selling point for Iowa to use in this case.
Iowa does a good job of preparing guys for the NFL but so do the other schools on his list.

Great post Boss.

This may be a repeat post of mine, but for what it is worth:

# of former offensive lineman currently on NFL rosters:

Notre Dame = 11
USC = 8
Iowa = 6
Ohio St = 4
Miami = 3
Florida = ??? (Feel free anyway to do that research. I found their website to
be surprisingly bad.)

*Information gleaned from the school's own websites crosschecked with NFL rosters.
(You would think I have all of this idle time).:eek:
(My wife thinks I am doing our bookkeeping.;)

Would have been better to just say,

"We love playing in the NFL."

Signed O-Line U
- Bruce Nelson
- Casey Wiegmann
- Mike Goff
- Robert Gallery
-Marshall Yanda
- Seth Olsen
- Eric Steinbach

Did I mistakenly omit Bruce Nelson? Is he on Carolina's I.R. list? If so my bad and that means just one more omission and we tie USC.:)

Exactly. Why would you go to a recruit and say, "You don't want to go to Ohio St. and end up like Troy Smith (Heisman winner), Ted Ginn (top 10 pick), Beanie Wells (playing in the playoffs today), or Santonio Holmes (Super Bowl ring)."

There are cards Iowa can play, but this would be a bad one.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I didn't really get the impression he was mocking the other teams' players. It's possible he was making the statement that other teams have plenty of NFL players, too, so maybe that's not really a good place to go.

Although these other teams do have plenty of NFL players, I really think O-linemen are given a much higher status at Iowa than at all of the other schools he's considering. For the other teams he's looking at, the skill players are the rock stars.
