Ferentz with the laffy

I think I'm blocked too. When I first started my twitter account years ago I used my gamertag and needless to say, I'm sure people that I followed thought I was in Asian porn. So some guys like Randy and Hlas blocked me as spam before I changed my tag to Hawkfromnorwalk.

If he's looking for tips, here are mine:

1. Might want to consider TRYING to go deep a time or two....kinda hard to unclog the middle of the field when no one expects you to go deep
2. Stop running Derby in motion all the way to the wide side of the field and then running Bullock in the area he just vacated...how many times does that play need to be stuffed before we just throw it away
3. Bullock was put at WR for part of last year because he showed good ability to catch the ball....so freaking throw him some screens to keep the defense honest
4. Dial down the "read" routes and install more fixed route combos to give this offense a chance to get some confidence...this whole read route offense seems to simply make our receivers hesitate which slows everything down
5. Bullock has a great initial burst and we've shown instances of pulling guards or tackles....so why not try some toss sweeps to stretch things out from a running standpoint

There's 5 "tips" right there....

A fair amount of fail in this.

1. There are a lot of plays where the receivers are running downfield routes. They just aren't getting open, or Vandy isn't seeing them. Either way, the problem isn't the playcalling.

2. I agree with this.

3. Bullock had five receptions on Saturday, AND he dropped a couple short passes. I'd say Davis/Vandy were keeping him involved in the passing game.

4. This is basically asking the team to learn a whole new playbook midseason. Either they end up with a handful of non-read pass plays, thereby making the passing game easier to gameplan for, or they just scrap the current passing game altogether. Neither option is good; they're better off learning the current system and building for the future.

5. Meh. No real opinion on this one.

1. I'm not asking them to necessarily COMPLETE them. He!!, overthrow them by 10 yards, I don't care. But we have to at least SHOW that we are trying to go vertical.

2. I still laugh out loud when I picture this play in my head.

3. He has 8 receptions in 2 games and has shown he's about the only playmaker in space. Find more ways to get him the ball. Wheel routes, slip screens, split him out wide in 5 wide sets and run a bubble screen. Just do more.

4. I think maybe you misunderstood me on this.....Greg Davis, I'm sure, has a huge playbook. Several of the plays, I'm sure, are based on a read route offense. But I'm guessing there are a lot of plays that have fixed route combinations as well. What I'm asking is to tailor the playbook down considerably in order to allow our qb and receivers to act instead of react. There will be plenty of time later in the year to open it up more. But it's obvious to most who have football experience that there is a significant amount of hesitancy on the offensive side of the ball....from the qb, to the receivers, to the OL, to the RBs. Hesitancy leads to one thing....being slow. We can't afford to be slow.

5. Our run game will flourish if we can get Bullock to the outside or at least SHOW that we can go to the outside. That'll open up the middle even more.

He needs to gas up the attack with more offensive passing.

I think the run game starts showing signs of life again once we are able to use the passing game to keep a defense honest. Whether it's throwing down field or short routes, I don't see teams respecting the pass when Vandy's completing under 50% of his attempts.
