Ferentz: We Have a Lot of Work To Do

It was only one play but I thought I saw Collins get folded in half trying to make a tackle by the goal line. Again, only one play but it led me to wonder whether he's stout enough to play the inside run.

Yeah that’s a concern for sure, but somewhere I read he had a knack for knifing through the line of scrimmage, seemingly always choosing the right gap...so like a lot of things I guess it’s a tradeoff.

I tend to believe we will be surprised in a few months. I believe the D-line and the team in general will show a lot of improvement as the year goes on. There are so many opportunities for younger players to play and earn a role on this team. Whoever wants it most has a chance, and that competition is healthy for a team. I believe a couple of new players will breakout this season on offense.

Both The redshirt and true freshman classes are talented, and I think we will see them emerge soon. Too soon to make judgements yet IMO

Garmon line (and others) are coach speak. That doesn't mean there isn't some truth to what he said, but coaches have to create the perception of uncertainty to players that might think they're the starter by default. Players need to feel that effort has to be there all the time. Good to see that they'll emphasize the TE's, biggest perceived strength in the receiving corps entering this season. Throwing to TE's more will also mean CJF's draft stock will increase, which means more good recruits.

If I was a betting man, (and I am on the craps table, in moderation, where I understand how to lower my odds to within a .5% of the house's odds), I would never bet, or handicap college football.

Good man. I am up roughly $500 lifetime on craps. Used to be $3,000. Haven't played in years tho.
