Ferentz Spring Presser Transcript

He is making some comments like I never heard before though. I cannot imagine a major change on offense, but something must be coming.

Maybe he is just trying to confuse the opposing DC's. I wonder when he throws in trick plays in early season games if most of the reason is to give B1G opponents one more thing to prepare for.

Prolly reading too much into it I spose.

oh there will be changes no doubt, how many and how often we see them remains to be seen. A lot depends on how the players respond to the changes and the new playbook and also how much KF trusts Davis and the players to execute.

I think KF laughing after saying some will be able to see them and some won't was a shot at the armchair QBs over the years. Again we are still going to run the ball and use it to set up the pass but do expect to see a lot of formation tweaks and (finally) some different personnel groupings. I also hope to see RBs become a bigger part of the passing game.

Q: You are not saying you have been too predictable on offense?

Ferentz: My biggest gripe is execution. When you look at film..I watched bowl game 10 days ago. The biggest challenge to me is always execution. Can you be more proficient and execute better? I don;t have any problem with what we were doing. It’s not like we are going to have a lot of new plays, but we’ll see where we go.

He may be trying to confuse opposing coaches because he seems to be speaking in contradictions with this response compared to others recently, but we can only go on history and track record.

1. He doesn't play the deception game at least with opposing coaches.

2. He has always believed that lack of execution is the heart of offensive woes, not lack of creativity or ultra-conservative philosophy or poor clock management, etc.

3. We run the offense KF wants to run.

I would love to see a drastically different approach on offense but I am not holding my breath. This will be KF's offense, not GD's.
