Ferentz Reaffirms Commitment to Iowa

This is different than usual. In the past, KF would never try to put out the fire. Instead, he would feed it in an effort to get raises and contract extensions, even though it really hurt our recruiting. He now realizes he is no longer the darling of NFL owners and management. He is 9-9 in his last 18 regular season games and things are slipping away.

I think with Norm retiring and Coach K's departure that reaches critical mass on staff movement that opposing recruiters could spin into something,so KF nipped it in the bud.

This, plus the negative light shed on the program by Coker's suspension. Also, three hours earlier Marc Morehouse posted a story in which he talked to a couple of Kaczenski's recruits to get their reaction to his departure. One, defensive end Daumantas Venckus, appeared to be upset about it and said he was going to talk to his parents. Would imagine there is a lot more of that kind of talk with all of Iowa's recruits and even some current players, helped along by the vultures and opportunists like Meyer, Bieleman, Hoke and Dantonio.

KF had to get out in front of it. I will say it was a sort of ham-handed effort, par for the course for Iowa's sports information office. Or maybe the Iowa SID is limited by KF in what he can say or do the same way KOK is on calling plays.

If you think Kirk would make such statements and then leave a week or a month later, you are a fool.

“To emphasize what I have said previously, I am very happy at Iowa. We have a great staff and group of student athletes, and we receive outstanding support from President Sally Mason and Director of Athletics Gary Barta. I fully intend to be at Iowa next year and well beyond 2012.â€￾

“As long as Iowa will have me, I’m here.â€￾

Translation: "I am very happy at Iowa. They pay me as much as I want and I would be an idiot to leave that. As long as Iowa will continue paying me whatever I tell them to pay me, I'm here."

KF simply cannot satisfy some Iowa fans with anything he does now. It weird, because coaches all around the league are failing at a high rate(Brewster,DickRod,Lynch,Zook,Hope,JoePa,Tressel,Fickell) and our fans are the ones who nitpick the longest tenured coach in the league. All these programs are starting over, and their fan bases are in the dumpster(cept for Michigan) and yet ours are the biggest complainers.

My thoughts daily on this board

Why are people complaining about this release? To me, it's the university getting in front of the story for once. Maybe they've learned their lesson.

You are a bitter cat aren't you...........you have no clue what you are talking about and more to the truth those aren't even fresh ideas. If you are going to rattle cages at least put in the effort to get new material! That stuff is tired and was unsubstantiated the first 100 thousand times it made the rounds..

The two primary complaints seem to be the weak wording and the fact it came out a little before 10 last night, hardly enough time to catch the evening news cycles and major play in the morning sports pages.

If his original response of 12/4 was so clear and easy to comprehend then why did he have to reaffirm it (more succinctly) with CBS Sports and eventually then again in a formal press conference?

This ended up being a distraction that could have been avoided in my opinion.

Really then you honestly don’t get human nature. But I suppose most don’t. For some this still isn’t clear enuff I guarantee it and it will need done again because they will forget. See the problem with people and message boards is, they see and hear what they want and nothing is ever good enough. We switch and twist and change things to whatever fits our agenda.

You are naive if you don't think the luster is off of KF's star a bit. He is not the hot NFL commodity he was 5-6 years ago. Doesn't mean there is not negative recruiting going on, but fact is he was not being considered for the Chiefs job.

I try not to put myself in the never/always camp and I have my moments where I am way over the top and without a net. But, per the ranting and musings of the proletariat on this here board. I am likely one of the least naïve people that you read. Lustrous stars and KC job aside, what he said was tired and a mechanism used to run down KF’s character and acumen.

Naïve indeed….

Yeah, I've noticed, along with the narcissistic behavior patterns of some.

Super Dee duper…then we are clear…..Funny thing about narcissism. Usually as much a societal thing and ultimately a self indictment as much as it is a hurtful slight. Kind of like arrogance or judgment….tough to call someone arrogant or judgmental without first arrogantly placing yourself in a position of judgment. Neat how that works, eh?!

You’ll have to do better than that…

Damnit, I guess KF had to take a phone call while watching his favorite TLC program to solidify his position of apathy and no growth within the UI football program. While he made 125K for simply doing so.....That is a damn nice gig![/QUOTE

Stale, dumb and tired.

Because that would make too much sense. That would be what 99% of us would do in the same situation. Some how though he awlays waits just a little bit longer then necessary to make the right statement.

For example; Is McCall going to play in the bowl game?

KF We'll see, we'll see

WTF does that mean, is he practicing, is he on the team? Answer the GD question.
