Ferentz On the Side: He References Hulk Hogan

KF has this whole coach speak thing down so good that when someone throws a softball question about his son ("Have you been pleased with James Ferentz") he still can't answer it directly. Instead of saying something along the lines of, "Yeah, I've been pleased with his production so far this year. He's playing with some younger players, but showing good leadership as you would expect out of a 3 year senior starter. I expect even better things from him down the road this season as the offensive line becomes more of a cohesive group." Instead you get, "He is playing well."

He's always been uncomfortable talking much about his sons while they are playing there.

Would you expect anything else?

He's a dad whose kid is an all-conference performer. I don't think anyone would bemoan the fact that he talks up his kid from time to time. It's one thing if Lickliter tried that. But James is an all-conference center and on the Remington Watch List. Give him some props, dad! :)

Trust me, some would.

I'm pretty sure more people would burn him for talking about his kid than the number who give him a hard time for not giving his kid any props.

In my opinion, humble is not a bad quality to have.

Look, I KNOW all you HAWK nuts are TOO blind to see the truth, so allow me.... Captain Kirk has GOT to go! Enough! Let him join Fry, retire, ride off into the sunset... The Iowa State game IS what this season will end up being; a WASTE of time... Can the Captain, hire someone with more than two plays in the offensive play book, and REALLY retool this entire program! Look, it needs to be done, and the sooner the better!:p

That is Kirk at his finest. It seems like about once a press conference he'll sneak one of those obscure references in there. I wonder if he and the other coaches before the press conference come up with a random reference and he has to find a way to work it in to the conversation. This week was code word Thunderlips.
