Ferentz new Contract....

With the new contract that extends to 2020 does it do anything more to keep Coach Ferentz from leaving Iowa for an NFL gig if that comes around again?

I like Coach Ferentz and he has done an amazing job at Iowa. I just hope the extension doesn't lead to complacency towards the end like it did in Coach Fry's last couple of years.

The thing that I love is that he's coached here 11 years and he has 11 years left (counting this one) until this contract runs out. Seems too good to be true!

Rittenberg is an objective observer of the college football scene and he has again nailed it on KF's value to Iowa. Consider that Iowa was like 3rd in the league in total revenues, and I believe #1 in football program profitability. As the recent article on economic impact on Iowa City of the 7 home dates(14 million) indicated, Iowa football is big and good business for the city and the school. Iowa facilities have been upgraded constantly since KF hit his stride, and not just in football..all sports.
As the CEO of this empire, he deserves every penny...and his market value demands it.
Barta clearly understands where everyone's bread is buttered, including his own...Iowa football. Barta has done what is necessary by retaining KF. After his stumble with his first BB hire, Barta needed to make sure KF was in the fold,as long as possible. Now,if Fran can come thru for the bb program...Barta will be on a roll.

I think it helps recruiting. Coaches use the fact that he is going to the NFL against him all the time, but he can point to this and say, again, I'm not going anywhere. This does not lock him up, because contracts can always be broken, but it sure makes it look like he is not looking for anything else.
