Ferentz gets onside kick blocking rule changed

good rule change, that play is as much of a safety issue as hitting defenseless receivers, etc. Big time concussuions and broken bones just waiting to happen.

If Kirk wasn't seen as a coward before...... he should be now. He just got one of the most exciting plays in football banned because he's too big of an imbecile to coach his teams to defend it.

It's really inspiring to be so close to such genius.

At least he was able to win at something here......sure can't defend against it....might as well have some safe guard to prevent it.

Kind of ranks right up there with Bombay telling his kids to take dives on the ice.......:)

What's cowardly is sending four guys to destroy two defenseless blockers whose attention is on the ball on a kickoff.

What changed? Seemed to me that the only change is that they can review the play and enforce a penalty via the replay. Wasn't it illegal to block the receiving team before the ball went 10 yards already?

It's about player safety, bro.

You are as predictable as farts after eating beans. Give it a rest

This is a good move with the onside kick. This allows for the play to be reviewed. Not only can this be used against teams such as the goofers that illegally block. It could also be used in situations such as the bogus offsides call in the 2006 Outback bowl. I would have to go back and check the onside kicks in the Gator Bowl last year. I am pretty sure that they did not pull a cheat goofer block in that game, but instead they played be the rules anyways. I wish so much that they would have recovered those to aide in the comeback attempt. I remember they were close to recovering anyways.

Correct. It was illegal when the plays happened, and the change now allows them to be reviewed.

LOL Kind of odd that I don't see any other coaches making a fuss about this if it's such a safety concern. Maybe it's cause their teams don't go years without being able to defend against one successfully?

BTW, if it is such a safety concern then please point me to the last time a player was significantly injured on such a play.

It's a real chuckle to see the lengths some of you will go to in defending a 4million dollar imbecile.
