Ferentz as AD?

Does anyone think that KF would be interested in something like that, a la Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin? Not now, but say 8-10 years down the road?

I could see him doing it as a "retirement" thing. One big reason is the longer he is here the more it becomes evident for the affection he has for the program and school in general. I think having a role in determining who will take the reigns of the program will be very appealing to him. I don't know if it's 8-10 years from now but it's certainly possible.

haven't we done that before with a great coach? how did that work out?

in otherwards no. KF is a football coach. lets not risk it.

It's worked out well for Nebby and Osborne. Kirk seems like a guy that could take the AD role and be very good at it.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that we actively try and move him over the the role of AD at the expense of being a football coach. The thought is would it make sense for him to transition to that role once he gets to the point he doesn't want to coach football anymore ala Barry Alvarez.

No one is suggesting he goes the route of Evy.

Not a chance. I see an NFL front office job just sitting there for him once all the kids are out of the house and finished with sports. Plus, it's something where he could probably still keep the Iowa City residence.

I think when Kirk is done at Iowa, he will be done...retire...private cabin in the summers on some secluded acreage in Michigan kind of thing.

I agree with Jon once he is done.....he is done. He might try his hand at the NFL, but it would be for a short period of time and the perfect situation.

Unfortunately, I think this might come up sooner than we think....Once JF has graduated what is left for him to do? How realistic is winning a NC?

Personally, all I want from KF once he decides to leave is- that he play a big part on who his successor will be. IMO, he truly understands what it takes to win at Iowa. He is a smart dude with alot of connections I have more confidence in him picking the next coach than I would Barta.

Not a chance. He doesn't like that sort of thing. He's said he'd be just as happy at being a OL coach on an NFL team. I really don't see an NFL front office job either. Might be some type of consultant for an NFL team if that is what is meant by front office.

He'll likely coach 4-5 more years here and then decide what he wants to do.

I think he will be to busy at the White House. KF 4 pres.
JK. I agree with jon about getting away from everything on this one.
