Closest thing we have had to that Colin Cole...Carl is athletic..but new players you have to play with technique..part is pad level..challenges for any younger player is playing with technique...then consistency...hard guy to move if he keeps pads down..excited about him

Bigger True frosh..would you like a bigger DL?
Its not by design..we dont have option of picking the guys we want all the time..Faith and Jeleel will be good players...but if there are a few Krouls, Kings and Klugs we will take them too...have to get a player productive

excitement to play?
I havent seen players since Sunday.Saturday was our first day off since we got going..that is healthy...we are ready to transition..players were ready to do that weeks ago..its a lot of the same stuff on two....today, excitement, different vibe...it is game week today. Different mode of operation...feels like it takes forever to get to fierst one then once here its a blink and over

I am comfortable with what we are doing. We are on the right track. Scheduling is always a challenge.

He has done a great job..helped us at LB last year, a guy who was a HS QB, had a few knee injuries, grey shirtd first year...only reason he came here was Matt Bowen and Aaron Kampman played for his dad in GB..they made impression on he and his dad...that is how he got here..hard worker...improved each and every chance...like a lot of our success stories, better every year.

I haven't tracked it because I dont want to know the answer..this is youngest team in terms of senior starters over 14 years...but we have Morris, Kirksey, juniors play and act like seniors...seniors that may or may not start have done a great job in practice and off the field..good leadership base. Feel like can be successful, but we know how inexperienced we are, starting with this week new adventures..bus trip this week, strange stadium, dangerous opponent..

Good lesson for htem out of gate to play game away from Kinnick
I would not object to being at home and going there next week..biggest focus is NIU, good football team..have beaten Big Ten teams recently, no saying that can't happen this week...so they are the focus.do that and play our best

What did Kornbrath show you
It wasn't set in stone. We have had two public practices, he got all reps that day, we wanted to see what he woujld do...we chart them like everyone else. We feel like he gives us our best chance

Good way to put it. It's like that every year. Anxious and excited, that is where we are at...NIU feels the same way..ready to play. It will be interesting..that is why you work and practice...13 weeks..will learn every week

What does NIU do to stay successful
Start with recruiting..Coach Novak gave them stability..always felt that was a sleeping giant type program...did a nice job recruiting area under Novak...Tulsa comes to mind, they have done same thing..lot of good players in Illinois, lot of good players who get overlooked and they have done well..supplementing roster and have done good coaching...Novak, Kill and now Dorian...good program...MAC, lot of good teams there. The QB's from that league against any other league, when I got here..good players

Opposing coaches said about Iowa, know what they are doing, just stop it..two new coordinators, advntage
yes an no. They know but they don't know. You dont knw what the mix will be but general identities, yes. ALways uncertianty in first game...they have a new coach as OC...Coach Dunbar..he knows us well..interesting matchup that way..never quite sure what you see in first game. they do a lot of things on special teams that give you headaches...I dont know if that will be advantage
