I will be posting Kirk's comments in this thread as he speaks them, as best I can...please forgive some typos and grammar as I will be trying to keep up. Please do not post in this thread until the headline has changed with the word FINAL in it. Close to going

Medically: Hill & Lile have had knee surgeries and are done for the year. Lomax won't play, Canzeri rehabbing and doing well.

Talking about NIU and how successful they have been in recent years. Very experienced on defense and special teams, new faces offensively, particularly up front

Where Bullock is as of now, enviusion him being bell cow?

A: Hasn't played much..a lot of work in springand improved and did good this camp. With our situation, we are down to three guys we can evnision going into the game. All three will be in there and go from there.

Rogers, FB?

He is good to go. Weisman had a good camp, as improved as any player on our team...Gimm had a good spring and preseason

plan for RB Rotation?

Plan to play all three. They will be in game and I don't know what extent

Malloy, least known, walk on

Mike missed a lot of last year with a knee injury and is coming off knee rehab..did a nice job in camp. He has missed some time last year like Fleming but both those guys are doing well. I think he will do a good job

He has done a good job as well..they may go the wrong way a time or two. Greg is dynamic..he can do a lot of things he is very quick and a passion for playing

Harnish there played three years, how different for them with Luynch at QB

Time will tell. Harnish was a tremendous player..in NFL now, last I checked. is productivity was amazing. We are not quite sure what to expect..a new OC, new faces, very good WRs and TE's, good RB's we have seen on film..OL and QB inexperienced. Lynch is big and solid and a running threat.

Making progress. Its our most inexperienced group by far...we get Dom and Davis back we didnt have them in spring. I think to contrast to a few years ago, I would envision playing 6-8 guys..we dont have a 75-80 snaps per game player...week by week, but I like what I seek..good attitude and working hard. Bigach leader, LTP has done the same thing as a younger guy..tough minded...those two guys and getting Dom back, younger players moving along...Joe G has done good.

All five OL from Iowa?

Someone brought it up this summer..wasn't intent but it worked out that way..not a surprise, we have had a lot of good oL from this state

Four guys we list will all play. A couple other we are treading water with..count on those forou and only those four

Buford

He has done a good job...BJ was out for a few days and gave him more of a chance to play..liked him in recruiting and mre now...works hard..lot to learn...but he will do well for us

Frosh WR broke through on depth chart, Hillyer

he and Don Shumpert were quietly improving at end of spring last year..over last three weeks both of those guys have shown us a lot more. They are hardly there yet, both young game experience wise..right track..throw cotton in too..this was his best three weeks of practice as a hawkeye..made great cathces in camp but has not played a lot..game situations are different.

Walk on LB must have flashed, what see out of them are they schollie

Both guys work hard, first and foremost..Travis made his move in the spring and did a nice job there, will be a really good special teams player and a good job in LB..wont throw him in Grant Steen category, but like that impressed with way he practices and works...we just heard so many great things about him in recruiting and all true....

Hope we get off roller coaster..one of our goals...will be some in punting game, no different when any new punter comes in..ups and downs but turned out well..Connor has that potential to be a really good player...Guthrie last year, one of the great stories on our team last year...that is a variable...but Mike Meyer, ramped up his game and Marshal behind him has improved...Kreiter excellent deep snapper for us...return game...Hyde PR...lot of guys in kick returns..some of those returns will be cut out due to spot

Why want to go to Chicago again?

It is a win win for us..fans seem to enjoy it which is good...not convenient, but better than going to west coast...can get on a bus and have a predictable outcome of when get tehre and when get home..that part is good..pro stadium, exciting to players...
