Feels like 4 on 5 basketball when..

Too much dribbling on offense, lazy passes, not enough use of sets, didn’t attack mismatches, didn’t crash boards, posts didn’t establish position. It’s like all of a sudden we think were an nba team that can post 15 feet from the basket and take contested jumpers all game.

Also, that’s as disinterested as I’ve seen White in awhile.

This might be what makes me most angry about this damn team ... it's UNACCEPTABLE that the senior "leader" goes M.I.A. as often as he does. He's the king of watching and moping and allowing himself to just disappear when his team needs him to produce.

It's very frustrating when you know what he's capable of, game in / game out. Even more so when it looks so deliberate ... like every 4th or 5th game he just decides he's taking it off. I'm not sayin'; I'm just sayin'

I don't feel bad for him at all. He has done it to himself. His coach keeps going out of his way to help him and he refuses to help himself.

I can't argue with this. I just can't help feeling for a Hawkeye who gives full effort and struggles. But It is on him, and I'll admit Fran has probably given him more than fair chances.

Regardless, I think he's probably a bit player going forward.

Who knows, maybe he goes en fuego

The fans were on him bad tonight. The loudest they were the whole game was when they groaned every time he passed up a shot. His last shot he passed up might have been the end of the Oglesby experiment for Fran. Fran wasn't happy.

I don't doubt what you describe but I'll never buy your assessment until it actually plays out. I look for Fran to have Oges in before 15 minutes at NwU. Until he doesn't, the only conclusion is, he will.

This x1000. More and more and find myself cursing Fran every time that dude takes the court

We are decent, what we want is to be good.

Minnesota was to quick for Iowa. I'm looking forward to watching some of the recruits Iowa has coming in next year. I think the only teams Iowa might lose to the rest of the season are Indiana and Nebraska. Both of those teams have a lot of quickness. If they finish 11 and 7 or better they will be in the NCAA tournament. They need to win their next two games.

With roughly 6-8 minutes in the game, can't remember exactly. Iowa ran a set and the ball rotated to JO behind the three point line he had a decent look and failed to pull the trigger. In the back ground Fran threw his hands up and immediately inserted Jok for JO.

Not to pile on, but I guess I will. Not sure JO was ever this great shooter everyone wanted him to be great shooters don't put up the type of shooting percentage numbers he has through out his tenure at Iowa. Unfortunately, he is one of the overanked players that many quality teams wanted on their roster out of high school. Things just never panned out.

IMO, there are two glaring issues in Iowa's rotation. Two players who are not an offensive threat at any point when they are on the court and other teams know this.

Oglewinkel is terrible and it has now gone to the ridiculous phase.

The kid has been here for 4 years and has no purpose being on the floor.

The Oglewinkel apologists will tell us how great he is on defense...no F'ing way is he even remotely decent at playing D.

The Oglewinkel apologists will tell us he's got a beautiful stroke. Name you player that 'has a beautiful stroke' and shots as poorly as he does?

The Oglewinkel apologist will tell us he's got a great assist to turnover ratio. WHO F'ING CARES. If you stand at the 3 point arc and just pass it around without attempting to dribble or actually make a D1 play then of course your asst:turnover ratio is going to look decent.

He's a great practice player..wow. You know who else was a great practice player? Rudy.

Enough of this travesty and just move on.

And even they passed up a couple a piece this game.
Their not shooting after the opening five minutes can be attributed to the combination of Uhl and Fran. Dom came in, made his first shot and then threw up three bricks in rapid succession. Fran gave him the hook and chewed his *** for taking inadvised shots. This scared the other shooters shitless and they quit shooting even when they had wide open looks.

Well the team is a bunch of idiots if that can't tell that the reason why Fran was mad at Uhl for shooting a bunch of deep 2's and 3's doesn't also apply to guys like White, Gesell or Uthoff.

That's my theory. I have no other explanation as to why Jok and Ultrahoff quick taking wide open shots.

Eh, we're good. Just not great.

This is true. And most of us had Iowa going 5-3 or 6-2 in their last 8. I had them at 6-2.

The BPI, RPI and Kenpom all had Minnesota and Indiana as the 2 highest ranked opponents left on our schedule. Everyone can pick their favorite rating system. So it stands to reason that these are the 2 most likely losses. I didn't think Iowa would lose this game but I thought they would lose 2 and knew that the non Indiana loss would be unexpected...whoever it was. Turns out it was Minnesota.

Edit - I forgot about Illinois.

White also shot a pull up deep 2 on a fast break with no one to rebound. Then Jok missed consecutive shots early in the shot clock. I assume they were advised to quit quick shooting. That turned into our best 2 shooters passing up wide open shots just to turn it over later.
