Favorite sports documentaries

The 24/7 NHL documetaries are really good to on HBO. I also like Do Believe in Miracles the story of the 1980 US Hockey team.

I saw the Marcus Dupree one. That dude was a freak. Showed up overweight and out of shape for the Fiesta Bowl and still had 245 yards and 2 touchdowns. And he played about half the game. Switzer basically blamed him for the loss in the press and it was a downhill spiral after that. Kid would have easily won a couple Heismans if he had the right attitude and didn't listen to bad advice.

I love sports documentaries. I could list just about all of the 30 for 30's, so I'll skip that. Here are my favorites among other docs:

Ken Burns' "Baseball" is awesome.

"Hoop Dreams" is fantastic, but it's so much bigger than just a sports documentary. It's really a commentary on urban plight that uses basketball to draw the audience's attention; that what makes it so great.

"Endless Summer" (surfing) and "Dogtown and Z-Boys" (skateboarding) are really cool stories about a pair of extreme sports when they were in their infancy.

"Michael Jordan to the Max" is incredible, especially if you see it in its intended IMAX state.

A couple that I would like to see are "Nine Innings from Ground Zero: The 2001 World Series" and "Bobby Fischer Against the World" (insomuch as chess is a sport).

One of the 30/30 films I enjoyed a lot was the Columbian soccer team. I'm not a soccer fan but thought it was awesome. I don't recall the title though

One that hasn't been mentioned yet was 30 for 30's "Once Brothers." Very good one about Drazen Petrovic and Vlade Divac. If you haven't seen it, it is very good!
