Favorite Next man in of the 2000s?????

S Greene is an easy answer here as he came back from the furniture store and won the Doak Walker, but another of my favorites is Tyler Sash. Came in a freshman from Osky, IA and has kicked tail since.

Who are your favorites?

Well Greene is the obvious answer BUT I would say Ramon "Razor" Ochoa...or Tyler LUEBKE. lol great team that was.

Does Tyler Sash count? He beat out a returning fifth year starter in Harold Dalton. Wasn't so much next man in...as he was freakishly good (and Dalton was bad).

I think Joe Conklin is a severely underrated next man in story. Local kid who walked on at Iowa State, realized it sucked. Transfered to Iowa and was on the team for three years. Because of transfers and lack of safety depth he made the 2-deeps out of nowhere his senior year. Greenwood gets injured against MSU, Bam, Conklin is the starting FS on a top 10 team. And since he didn't blow any coverage or make any other epic mistake in his three games, his play passes as serviceable.

How about a runner up to the Heisman trophy...Brad Banks...out of nowhere.

Ding...ding...ding.

That is correct!

Also, this is my 100th post!!!!!!!
So I guess I should say that the Hawkeyes will go undefeated this season and all you doubters out there just shut your mouth & watch. EIGHT-PEAT B*TCHES!!!!!! GO HAWKS!!!!!

Not sure my favorite but a good one, AROB last year.

I am biased toward Robinson, but he and Wegher have to make the finals in this competition. Neither one of those guys had played a college down before the UNI game last yr, and they toted nearly every carry for a BCS Champ team.

Razor would have to be up there. He put together more than just a decent season in place of Mo Brown. Definitely one of my favorites.

Brownlee is another who really is a sort of cult hero.

I'm not sure if he really counts, but Derek Pagel is one of my favorite all-time Hawks. Nearly quit the team to go to Wartburg, but decided to stick it out and ended up being 2nd team All-Big Ten.

And I know he ended up being a star, but didn't DJK get his break into the lineup because of Brodell's injury against Wisconsin in 2007?
