FanVote: Who is Iowa's Offensive MVP?

I voted for Jake. By far, on offense, the QB position was the biggest unknown coming into this season.

Jake for sure. Consistent, calm QB play made all the difference in the world this year.

Exactly. And when you consider true "value" in picking an MVP, you have too look at the back-up at each position, and QB is the one where I wouldn't want to have someone come in with no experience.

Gotta be Jake.

KMM had some big drops and some games he didn't do much.
OTs don't win MVP... even if you are the best player on the team
Weisman might be able to earn the award if he could stay healthy.... but he just can't for an entire season the way he runs.
CJF played well late in the year but he also had some big drops early in the year.

I voted for Jake. Had I seen Sherff on there he would have been my vote.

That said, I think this is basically the same team as last year, and other than experience in GD's system, there is only one piece that is brand new, and that is Jake.

I could go either way with Weisman or Rudock.
Weisman was a hammer. Rudock was the captain of a well balanced, solid executing offense.

Then again, maybe we should just go with whoever bought the American Yorkshire at the Adair County fair and ritually sacrificed it to AIRBHG on the highest peak of the Loess Hills.

Scherff. His job to protect the QB's blind side and lead the running game with great blocking. He excelled in all of this, thus my vote/

1a Scherff = roadgrader
1b Jake heady, savy and capable scrambler. Fewest sacks in B1G?
3 CJF caught on to the blocking part of the game, had the dropsies at times but a great red zone weapon
4 KMM good route runner, normally very reliable but dropped some key balls especially vs Wisc
5 3-headed RB-by-committee. Weisman-Bullock-Canzeri

I voted Rudock, but Scherff was a close second. Rudock, IMO, displayed a very Stanzi-like moxie this season and it made all the difference for us on offense. Yes, the offense tanked without Scherff last year, but let's not pretend it was particularly respectable before the injury. He brought it from historically terrible to below average, which is still pretty impressive. But Rudock gave us the kind of steady presence under center we needed, and he showed some playmaking ability that I hope will only keep developing into a real weapon.

You can't be MVP if you don't touch the ball.

Scherff is our best player, not most valuable and it's because of the position he plays.
