Fake Field Goals Two Games In a Row.

Odd. Odd. Odd!
Not so much the calls, but the the yardage needed with the first one and the timing (clock time left) with the second one. Both are so uncharacteristic for Ferentz, but really odd two games in a row for Ferentz. Did he question Koehn kicking that yardage against Ill St?

Is KF really trying to plant a seed in coaches heads for the upcoming games this season? Both attempts weren't really that tricky as he pretty much just took the snap and ran. They weren't like when Kaeding took a behind the head flip from the holder and ran in the end-zone on Penn St.

Regardless of the outcomes, I'm glad we are seeing the attempts by Ferentz. I just thought the yardage and clock were odd. I wonder if Koehn can throw the ball well and if we will ever see that kind of attempt.

One very positive we can take from the two failed attempts is that they would have been good for 6-8 yards, often the distance of most attempts. This bodes well and maybe Ferentz was just using this as a gauge for the games to come. Who knows, but it has been a fun and entertaining two games.

Maybe this aggressiveness is an attempt to show fans to get their butts back in Kinnick. One never knows the drive sometimes.

Talked about it with my neighbor and he stated something to the effect of "I don't care if it doesn't work, if they keep winning when then call it, they should keep calling it every game."

I think we are long trolling Wisconsin or Nebraksa on this one. I think the real fake FG is snapped to the holder with Koehn running to the left and the holder passing to the right.

If KF keeps calling these uncharacteristic plays, Iowa will keep on winning.

It's like George on Seinfeld. Things worked out best for him when he did the complete opposite of what he usually does.

Bottom line is if KF keeps taking chances that he's been unwilling to do the past 4 or 5 years, he will win back some fans regardless of the final score each week. The Hawks are playing to win versus playing not to lose. At least that's what I've seen the past 2 weeks.

Of course, it helps when the Current QB, can do things with his arm and legs the prior QB wasn't able to do as well.

I noted this in another thread - I think this buys Koehn time from the edge rushers going forward. They have to respect the fake.

Ok, boys, Koehn will probably pass it the next time, eh? I could see it happening, just sayin'

Isn't Tyler Wiegers the holder? Yeah next time it will be a pass and they will have the opponent completely fooled.

You don't mess with a streak! We're 2-0 in games where we fake a field goal. We can't stop doing it now!

I think the next one is still a direct snap to Koehn, but this time he starts to run but then flips the ball over the defense to George Kittle, who was lined up on the left side of the line to block and slips loose.

We are also undefeated this season in games in which we try a flea-flicker.
