Last year he had some serious playing time on the d-line. Pre-season this year I was expecting him to maybe even start on the d-line, but now it only seems like he sees the field in goal line stances. Anyone know why his playing time is so limited?

You do realize he recovered the fumble in perhaps the biggest play in the win over Wisconsin last week? Why do people always want to assume that there is something "wrong" with a player if he isn't playing as much as we think they should? First it's Scheel, or Daniels, or Ekakite. Sometimes guys just aren't as good as the people in front of them, or they are hurt (see Scheels and Daniels). In Ekakite's case, Bazata and Jaleel Johnson are playing well. Ekakite is playing rotational minutes. It's a very positive sign that a player of Ekakite's caliber is Iowa's first DT reserve. It's very likely that Johnson or Bazata misses a game or more over the next 2 years, at which time it will be great to have a strong backup like Ekakite ready to play.

he played last year and is playing this year. He's been behind schedule / expectations based on his star ratings.

Yeah, in the goal line stand like I mentioned. I'm just really surprised he isn't seeing the field more, I have always been a fan of his.

He rotates in more than you think. I thought the same thing, but I saw 56 running in their a lot last Saturday in Madison. Matt Nelson plays more than I realized as well.
