Fact or Fiction....Iowa's Defense would hold Ohio St under 30 points

It is not about the Iowa defense, it would be about the Iowa offense. You would need some production from the offense and you just wouldn’t get it.

Color me stupid, but I'd like to see Alaric Jackson and Chase Young go at it. Jackson is playing better now that he's had a few weeks to get back into things. By the end of the year...I expect him to be NFL ready.

Pass protection isn’t exactly his strength. NS might not be clamoring for that matchup.

No chance. I just saw them out-Wisconsin the Badgers by beating them at their own game. It was methodical, slow grinding Chinese water torture. Orr and Daum were getting home early, Wisconsin was controlling field position and time of possession, it was Wisconsin's kind of game well into the third quarter, and then suddenly you looked up and it was 24-7, then 31-7.

Chase Young would be a one man wrecking crew on our O-line, our accounting for him would probably turn other players loose, and Stanley would be forced to eat the ball a ton to avoid risking the turnover. This was Chryst's apparent strategy-dont risk a bad throw and take the sack. He didn't, however, take two forced QB fumbles into account

They were shutting Taylor down. Think of what they would do to our backs.

Bottom line. This buckeye team is just too deep and too talented. Imagine what the result would have been if tOSU could really have gotten things rolling theiir way. Wisconsin did everything in their power to shorten the game, minimize the risk of the turnover, do everything we would do, and it still got away from them late. I say all this with the benefit of a first hand account because I was at the game.

Didn't watch the IL Wisky game, but a statistician there said IL won the trenches when it counted. That Wisky became like speechless to answer.

Wisky didn't demolish NW.

Iowa could have demolished NW.

Not saying a win this week or against A OSU team, but I think Iowa could make a 24 - 9 game of it.

Fiction. I think they would hit us with an aerial attack! Plus our offensive would have that D wasted by the 4th quarter!

Has Iowa been able to control the game with their running attack this year, able to sustain drives?

No, there's your answer...

TDs are quite important in winning, thus, the issue this year.
I think if we had Goodson as the feature back , Young as the short yardage back and Laporta all year we put up a decent amount of points all year . But I’m not the coach so I can’t play our best players

If you play your best players, you might win a lot, and set too high of expectations, best to keep expectations low, focus on punting...get into that bonus bowl.

I'll tell you in a couple weeks in indy!!!
All seriousness, i think we would. Our game is designed to muddy up the waters and limit their possessions. I feel like iowa would hold them to like 9 possessions for the game. OSU would have to score td's on 5 of them to break 30....i think iowa would keep it under that.....give me the under.

Unless O'Keefe is calling the offense, no way we could play keep away that long. What is going to be hilarious is watching OSU tune the ever living shit out of all these scrub Big Ten defenses (that are all statistically high because of the style of play) and then get held to single digits when they play an actual defense composed of several men who will not only play but be stars at the next level. The d-linemen in the SEC are way better than the guys in the Big Ten. I think OSU has a good team, but they would be right around Auburn's level if they were in the SEC.

Wisconsin tried that, and had success for about two and a half quarters.

They were on pace to hold the Buckeyes to well under 30.

Then tOSU said enough messing around. We're not going to even give you a chance to punt the ball away. We're going to turn you over.

It went from 10-7 to 31-7 in a hell of a hurry.

We'd probably have about a 3% chance of beating tOSU in the B10 Championship Game but man, that would be awesome to have a chance to shock the world.

I don't see anyone keeping them under 30 seriously.

Dude, not even close. My daughter goes to NC State and we went up there for a game a few weeks ago for parents weekend. So before the game we went to a sports bar about a mile from the stadium, and this place was filled with Ohio State fans. I am not exaggerating, it was 95% ohio state, 3% NC State and 2% for everyone else. They even had the buckeye mascot blow up there too. A mile from the game. Never seen anything like it. Those fans ate everywhere.

We ain't NC State. Terrible program to compare us against.

Would have to try some weird shit most likely. heavy on the bend but don't break D. A lot of rope a dope trying to keep it close until the end.

In Raleigh? Not a surprise if you wandered into the alumni club's game watch, which it sounds like you probably did if they had an inflatable mascot. There are a ton of OSU fans all over the South because the Ohio economy has completely cratered and a lot of the smarter people have left. The Triangle is a huge destination for science-type people from the Midwest. Ohio's population has gone from 10.6 million in 1970 to 11.8 million today, while Georgia went from 4.6 million to 10.5 million and NC went from 5 million to 10.4 million in the same period.

That said, OSU would outdraw Iowa by a factor of 4 or 5 to 1 in a title game in Indy.
