facebook has DJK's back

What I don't get about everybody ragging on DJK is this: You say he's "hurting other people" by his drug dealing ways (let's keep in mind here that DJK was not charged with selling or distributing, only possessing) and you're expecting DJK to take responsibility for his actions while you're pretty much making him the scapegoat for other people's problems because he's the one that supplies it to them? How about making "druggies" accountable for their own actions and not blaming it on whoever they're getting it from. If they can't get it from one person they're going to get it from somebody else.

What in God's name are you talking about? How am I making him the scapegoat for others problems? I have a problem with him dealing drugs (or being around dealers) because it is a serious crime, often associated with theft, violence, and making money off of the misery and suffering of others.

Anything else are words you are putting in my mouth. Maybe he isn't hurting people...he is just breaking a bunch of laws and poisoning his body and hurting the team. Does that someohow make it more palatable?

Haha! So now you're retracting your previous statement of, "And of course he hurt somebody"? Or was that somebody else posting under your username earlier?

Edit: I suppose I could have phrased what I was trying to say a little better. What I'm trying to say is that you can't put all of the blame on the person supplying these people because 1. It's their own decision, nobody is forcing them to do drugs and 2. They're going to get it somewhere. Is the drug dealer helping out the situation? Of course not, but I just feel like the people actually buying the drugs are almost getting off the hook while it's the all the drug dealers fault. That's all.

No man or woman is without sin. We all fall short of perfection through our own devices. You are no better than DJK, no worse. No matter how hard you try, you are like the rest of us.

We each have a background that only we alone can understand. Each of our decisions in life are heavily influenced by the life we have lived, the life we were given and the life we have chosen. We are not absolved of the responsibilities and consequences of the decisions we make but we are most certainly a product of our own circumstances. We all got dealt different hands, we've all made poor decisions in playing the hands we have been dealt. Your poor decisions are no better or worse than any others'. Your inability to accept that suggests that you are a man who struggles greatly with pride. I assure you, your fall is coming, and I pray that someone is there to pick you up. God bless.

Your belief that no person should judge others is exactly the reason why society is decaying in moral behavior. The idea that we as private individuals should all be tolerant of lawbreakers and not voice our opinion on such matters is the same system of ideas responsible for school shootings today that were unheard of in prior generations.

Our society has become one of no personal responsibility and a tolerance towards poor behavior. There was a mother that recently came into the clinic and had a child that was malnourished. She was told to give more formula. She responded by saying that she was using all she was given through the program. I'm assuming she participated in WIC or some similar program. She was pregnant again and needed gov't support with the first one. Her husband went out to smoke a $5 pack of cigarettes as she pulled out her smartphone to text. True story. Unfortunately, our society chooses to accept this behavior rather than condemn it.

Back to the point; your deranged belief that we should be tolerant of stupidy is not only ignorant, it's harmful to society. The same applies to drug abusers and the story I just mentioned.

DJK is more of a Hawkeye than your sorry butt will ever be. He's dedicated much of the past 5 years of his life to this program and has embraced the black and gold and supported the fans more than a single member of the current team or staff. What the heck have you done besides sit behind a keyboard and be the smug, arrogant, holier than thou Hawk fan that the rest of the country sees us as? I'm more embarrassed by our supposed "Hawkeye Nation" turning their backs on a member of our Hawkeye family than I am of anything DJK has ever done. DJK screwed up, big time. But you're a pathetic excuse for a person and a fan if you can sit there and cast stones at DJK labeling him "nothing more than a punk, drug dealing, drug abusing football player". You're disgusting and I pray that when life kicks you square in the jim you have friends and family who don't turn their backs on you, because nobody deserves that, no matter what they've done.

Wow dude, take a step back from the ledge. DJK will never wear an Iowa uniform again, so why again are (we) fans turning our back on him? He made his bed, he can sleep in it.

Haha, I can see the president of the DJK fanclub/excuse-making club has been very offended. I think you may have been missing a big IF in my post. IF DJK is guilty of what he has been accused of then too bad, he deserves everything coming his way. What he did was not a mistake. It was a string of bad decisions that caught up to him.

He wasn't dealt a bad hand, he turned pocket aces into garbage. Go preach to someone else. We all make mistakes, but we don't all break the law and be more harm to society than good. Nobody is perfect, but not everyone has to be a drug dealer. His family is his support system, not us fans who don't know him on a personal level. You are a strange, strange character. This DJK stuff seems to actually be affecting your real life. That in itself is sad.

Anyone else thinking DJKs family/friends have made their way here?

Listen, I've rooted for him for five years. He was the only one who showed any spark at Minny and I've loved watching his big plays. He was really cool to my kid and he could have gone down as one of the best loved Hawks in ages. It might be that he just dabbled in this stuff and made some dumb choices, it might be that he's an addict. In either case, I truly hope he can turn things around and shine in the NFL and with his family/friends. But you have to realize why fans are letdown, ticked off and ready to write this all off. He's not just a reflection of himself. He's a reflection of his coaches, teammates, AND Hawkeye nation. Most 18-22 year old kids might not get that but some of us here do and think it's a damn shame he didn't go out in a happy blaze of glory.

You are no better than DJK, no worse.

I've never been arrested nor ever charged with any crime, so I'd say you're wrong right off the bat.

I assure you, your fall is coming, and I pray that someone is there to pick you up. God bless.

Seriously dude, take your preaching somewhere else. My fall is coming? Are you now praying that I get hit by a bus or something? You certainly leave that impression with all your babbling. And you can keep your blessings to yourself.

Of course, I can always go snort some coke, get myself arrested, and then maybe, just maybe, I can say I know what it's like to be DJK.
