Expansion question.

Besides increased TV revenues, what does expansion do for the Big 10?

It gives us a conference championship game. That's hardly the big reason, though. TV revenues, as you said. But it also can bring in more research grant money, hence the mandatory membership in the AAU (save for Notre Dame). Nebraska fits academically, but there are better academic candidates still out there (Notre Dame especially). Which is why I don't think this is the end of Big Ten expansion.

Kind of depends on what the expansion ends up being.

Minimally, for Iowa, even if it ends up just being Nebby, we have an instant bitter border rival with a storied program. The Minnesota Rivalry is quaint. Wisky is usually a good match-up that has significant implications, but Nebby has the potential to be a whole new beast.

I just wish we could get them this year.
