Regardless of whether GD or a yet-to-be-outed-entity was responsible for the off-week scheme change and play-calling yesterday, the fact is NW came prepared for one thing and faced something very, if not entirely, different. That by itself gave the Iowa offense a huge advantage. Both games after the bye-week have resulted in routs by Iowa. (Downside is the Maryland put us down after their bye-week, and we've got MN and IL coming up after their byes)
Going forward, the surprise factor won't be available with this new-old play-calling. In any case, I definitely prefer the KOK model for aesthetics alone...GD's horizontal offense (along with Baylor and tOSU which run it effectively) is an eyesore even when it hums.
Aside: If GD installed this offense/playcalling over the bye week, perhaps he was working up to this point towards building tendencies and then break out of them ...reminiscent of the previous OC.
