Outback Bowl: Mississippi St. vs. Iowa

(Noon ET on ESPN2 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida)

Both of these teams underachieved a bit this season. Both are talented at the line of scrimmage and can shut down opposing offenses. Mississippi State is the pick because of defensive line tandem Montez Sweat and Jeffrey Simmons, who force Iowa's Nathan Stanley into some mistakes. Tight end Noah Fant's absence also hurts the Hawkeyes in this one.

Prediction: Mississippi State 28, Iowa 17

Iowa's o/u was 7.5
Miss State's was 8.5

Hard to say either team really "under achieved" but in this case, it wasn't Iowa.

Iowa is an unranked team in the Outback Bowl, you don't see that a whole lot. Iowa will be a dog in this according to everyone.

the score could be 2-0 by the end of this one too.

Dolph: "Rastetter, lined up with his feet against the end line. Here comes the snap."
Ed: "Shank. Oh my god he shanked it."
Dolph: "That official, he seems, he seems to be marking it out in the end zone."
Ed: "I can't believe this, I just can't"
Dolph: "The officials are conferring. And they've got the safety signal up."
Ed: "I don't think I've ever seen that. Are they saying the ball didn't get out of the end zone?"

2.5 hours later:

Dolph: "And as the clock strikes all zeroes, the final is Mississippi State 2, Iowa 0 on a Rastetter punt that went out of bounds in the Iowa end zone."

Dude, Dolph is hiss-toe-ree by then. He just is.

They ain't gonna let him call one last football game? Didn't Ed get borderline #MeToo treatment like a few years ago and just get off with a stern talking to?

He actually got "fired" until he did the rehab thing. He wasn't even "on the job". That doesn't matter anymore, of course.

But in Dolph's case, The House of McCaffery has spoken...

In Eddie P.'s case the fans spoke and they wanted him to have a second chance. We all know there were conditions, yes he was having fun with some gal who seemed to also be older and having fun in the light of day of a public bar grill. But you just cant do that anymore.

ESPN would pick Arkansas to beat Iowa this season.

And ESPN needs to some better scouting

they don’t need a DL tandem to do that ... the wrong side of the bed can do that.

Dudes, on top of the 15 bowl practices, they have already had 6 regular season games where that has happened; we’re fine.

The fans had ZERO say in the matter. When--and only when--Eddie P. went to rehab was he allowed back in the booth by Learfield/U of I.

Yeah I know he had to do the rehab. But if the fans didnt listen because of him he would not have got the job back

I hate secespn but I think their not far off of that prediction. Hope I'm wrong but seems like Iowa usually keeps me wishing in one hand and shitting in the other.
