ESPN ranks BIG schedules

Iowa has the talent win out through non-conference but very doubtful. 10-8 is asking too much from this team also.

This is why most of our fanbase and pundits are saying next year for the Hawks. Iowa is better than Wisconsin this year though :)

We can go much much better than 10-8 in conference. Franny has made huge strides each of the past two years... expect anohter huge leap this year with Woodbury.

That ridiculous article has the two toughest games non con games UNI and ISU.... is he on crack??? We win those two by a combined 50 points.

That's why Iowa's schedule is ranked last in the BIG because Iowa State and UNI are the toughest teams on the schedule and neither ISU or UNI are going to be any good.

Iowa is rated with a 3, same as PSU and Neb...as far as toughness of non-conference schedules.

Wisconsin is at the top along with OSU and Minny with a 9. Good for them.

Tough break with Bruser cutting his leg...hope he recovers 100%.

If not them, then who? Who's going to be a tougher team than ISU? Virginia Tech? Wichita State?

It doesn't matter which turn is the shiniest, they're still all turds. I'm less worried about who's tougher, than I am that one of us will take us down like they always do.

Virginia Tech is toughest in my mind. Are they good? No. Do I trust us to beat an ACC team on the road? No.

ISU is ranked preseason 8th in conference of 10... way bad year for freddie.
Wouldn't count on that. Spots 2-8 are literally up for grabs. It will be crazy, and I don't think ISU will be that low.

Prognosticators seem to think the whole team last year was Royce, but we have a lot coming back. Will Clyburn is said to be pretty good, and we should have a real PG and depth. Much like Iowa, an up tempo style should result.

Our game in IC this year should be awesome, unlike the recent past!

We need to start scheduling some games. Tucking tail is not "Iowan." This goes for both sports.

Though it's probably better for this team to play a bad non-con schedule I agree. Boring non-conference schedules are just that, boring. When is the last time we played a home game against a good non-conference team? North Carolina State in basketball?

Freaking Arizona in football?

I know what you're getting at bcl20, but I just can't agree. We should not skirt premier competition just because we're unproven. We should face it head on, prove ourselves, and let everyone cough in the wake of our deletrious dust.

In all seriousness, do we want D Marble, Basabe and McCabe going into their senior years without ever having played a top-20 out-of-conference opponent? How are we going to fair in the NCAAs without having faced that type of competition before? Our team make-up is screaming, "soon!" Our scheduling is meekly answering, "maybe later."

If we make the NCAA tournament we should be plenty of tested just by the Big 10 schedule. It wouldn't hurt though play some good non-con teams though. If you win, it helps the resume, if you lose or even get clobbered, it doesn't hurt much.
