From ESPN's B1G Power Rankings blog:
7. Iowa. Last season, in the frenzy of Iowa's late wins over Wisconsin and Indiana (and the excellent Matt Gatens farewells they offered), my buddy Tom was constant in his demand for updates on Iowa's NCAA tournament bubble status. I would laugh and he'd ask why and then I'd try to calmly explain (something about an RPI in the 100s, if I remember correctly) and that was that. This season, though. Tom's enthusiasm is perfectly warranted. Iowa's best scorer went 1-for-14 against Indiana (playing against Victor Oladipo will do that), yet the Hawks still nearly took down IU in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, which was encouragingly populated again. Iowa is on a tournament trajectory in the years to come; the question is whether this team is good enough to do it ahead of schedule. Right now, I say yes.

Personally I could care less about what anyone from ESPN thinks about Iowa.

The encouraging sign comes from the team and their play on the court, not some fancy ESPN blog with their fake power rankings. This is a young team with a lot of talent, they can do about anything on the court if they play to their potential.

I could also care less. Way less for that matter. I'm pretty excited they are talking us up.
 
















I mean, they just lost to Indiana is it's unfair to put them at 1 but when they beat Michigan on Sunday, they'll be squarely at number 2.

I like where your mind is at, can you make it a guarantee? I like guarantees they help me sleep better at night.
 


I guarantee that Iowa will be number 2 in my meaningless January, 4th 2013 power rankings.

It means more to me than ESPN's meaningless power rankings. I hate ESPN, I don't think I said that enough in this thread yet.
 


The rankings and comments obviously don't mean much, but it's still nice to see. I can't believe how much better Iowa's defense has gotten this year. We were every wannabe sniper's wet dream the past two years, and now teams can hardly buy 3-pointers against us.
