He might see a few more 1 on 1 battles. Not significantly more, like all day. But, to a point above, This ain’t Pop Warner. Some of these teams have NFL caliber tackles who they might feel can go 1 on 1 with Eppy.

They are, but if Iowa can disguise and surprise, we need to find the right time to do it. I know we don't do it enough of it. Maybe today

Easy solution ... have him line up on the left side of the line occasionally or even at DT. Move him around and it might F up an already inept offense on a few plays.

I still believe we haven't blitzed much do to the defensive backfield being so inexperienced. I hope to see more pressure with a few guys back....

Good point and need well designed blitzes. Dont be concerned about FryIowa's total dismissal of your idea.

Remember it was Iowa blitzing in much of the 2nd half against ISU that turned Purdy's gawdy nearly 80% completion percentage to about 50% or worse.

If they are double teaming AJE then he can stunt inside taking both guys and have a faster lbkr and/or corner blitz on the same side or even have AJ drop into zone blitz which I saw him do at least once last week.

AJ is fast enough in the lbkr level of play.

Do a double A gap blitz and maybe the opponent cant double team AJ.

My only criticism of the defense is it’s those bastards that have kept Kirk in Iowa City. Over all rating of Kirk is mediocrity. Wins just enough to satisfy the pink locker room fan base.

I was anticipating him having the impact each week similar to the Outback Bowl. I was also anticipating him dominating. I don't see either.
