Enuff with the crybaby ref threads

Ok4p started a trolly type clone parody thread that I will not dignify with a link here. Then suddenly we have umpteen threads on HN ******* and moaning about officiating.

Come on people. It's barely cool when Ok4p does it, but for 10 people to start their own threads is just stupidity.

stop it already. this ain't cf.

Agree. I say the same thing to my clone friends, and my fellow bear fans on Facebook.

In our case, I'd prefer not to blame the refs unless we make 100% of our free throws and make all our layups/put-backs.

If everyone in a hawkeye uniform (or any team's uniform) does his job, we don't have to complain about the refs.

The team/coaching can't control that. I'd prefer that they concentrate on the things they can control (free throws down the stretch), which would have sealed the game for us.

Or we can just be like fan bases we make fun of. Up to you.

I don't know why people are fine with one team having to play a more perfect game than the other team to make up for officiating favoring one side.

I would very much prefer the players and coaches to concentrate on the things they can control. I also have no problem with fans complaining about bad calls that played a huge part in the outcome of the game.

If Marble makes both free throws there is a really good chance we win. If they don't call that terrible call on McCabe late in the game we probably win. I think both things are worth talking about. Along with allot of other missed opportunities and bad calls.

I agree with you PC. However, I've seen bad and biased officiating in overseas tourneys so much that you almost have to expect it and deal with it when you decide to play in one. That said, yeah, we could have won with hitting more FTs down the stretch. But we wouldn't have had to hit them if Gesell hadn't been fouled out for the first time in his career. All I have to know to realize that this was a standard overseas tourney officiating job is that Whitey got 2 black eyes and fouled out while Pinkston, at 6'7"/260lbs arguably Villanova's most physical player and leading rebounder in this game, got 0 fouls. That's right, zero. These two teams play again and no one fouls out- Iowa wins in a manner similar to the first half. Villanova wouldn't get bailed out again vs a team that's 1st or 2nd in B1G 3pt defense for two years in a row with 3pt shooting.

Probably just one of those wild coincidences that happen all the time. I will only say that after all the press coverage about putting a real emphasis on less physical play, these officials did not get the message. If you watched the game and did not see the difference in how Vile anova played defense in the second half, you must have had a bit too much to drink...

I had a bit to much to drink and I noticed.

Amen. That one nerd in his shantz literally played the tourney of his life. How in the world does that white kid dribble between his legs with curtains hanging from his crotch? Just launching 3's and praying they went in along with the ennis doofus

Marble doesn't play hero ball in the first half when he's not actually beating anyone and makes free throws the refs don't matter. That said, they blew, they sucked at their jobs and they should be called out for it. The call on McCabe was a disgrace to everything.

Also, the ref who couldn't call a travel on the play right in front of him (it was on the missed dunk that White got called for a foul on.) is a coward for that.
