it's hard to make that determination given the limitations/access to these recruiting lists. Tony Stewart was a part of the class of 1986 and he was the 14th rated player, any position, that year. That beats anyone named, so far, I believe. There were 3 RBs ahead of him on that list -

Not sure where he ranked, but Siaka Massaquoi was the state player of the year in Illinois. I found one place that said he was a 3rd team all-American and another that had him ranked as the 43rd player in the nation. I also found that he picked Iowa over so many others because Hayden "was the only coach who hugged me".

Tavian Banks was highly sought after as well.

When Miami's Dennis Erickson, Washington's Don James and Nebraska's Tom Osborne went to Bettendorf to vie for Banks

Looks like a great catch "or run :)" we be happy when he signs in the dotted line to make it official.

With a potential blockbuster recruiting class as this one is shaping up to be I'm certainly in favor of a fall early signing period. Then tell the bagmen dealing with the bluebloods to get lost.

His still going on a visit somewhere else gives me slight pause. And then there's always Jimmy Hijinks Harbaugh out there to throw a monkey wrench into things and try to pry him away.

Hope his verbal lasts. It probably will anyway.
