I really think this guy's gonna be a good tight end for us in the future.
Only if he's the type that struggles to add weight. He's gonna be a WR, they already have their TE for the class with Coons.
I don't know a thing about Scottie Nelson. What's the scoop?
I think/bet that's Iowa's wish list. If that happens what a class this will be. It's already solid but that'd make it unbelievable. I bet it'd be a top 10ish class maybe? If not who cares in 3 yrs after that it sure as heck will be with how Iowa develops kids. I'm glad that Iowa's taking advantage of the snowball effect of having a great year and new facility. Everything is pointing the right direction now they just need to take care of business one week at a timeAnyone have any idea on how many scholarships this leaves us with for the 2017 class? Hoping we have at least 4 more for Martin, Daniels, Nelson and Yeast. Imagine how that defense is gonna look in a few years if we land those last three!!
From my commitment story on Corrales:
------------
While in Iowa, Corrales spoke with Kennedy and offensive coordinator Greg Davis about their vision for him.
“They see me playing out on the perimeter, just to be able to hold up that outside so that we can spread out the defense and get some deep balls in there, hopefully, and then also so I can block on the perimeter,” Corrales said.
It’s hard to predict how a high school player will physically develop in college. Corrales boasts a body that could morph into an athletic tight end.
“I would like to be able to stay at receiver. (The Iowa coaches) told me that whenever I get there I’ll be on their maintain plan, like on maintaining my weight. So I’m assuming their plan for me, too, is to be able to stay at the receiver spot,” Corrales said.
The Texan also is open-minded enough to know sometimes plans change.
“Going off the college, people tend to bulk up, especially with the strength and conditioning program that Iowa has. So, I guess it will just be a play-it-by-ear thing as we go and I develop at Iowa. But like I said, I would hope that I would be able to stay at wide receiver,” he said
There were probably a half a dozen or more runs last yr that Hillyer helped spring from what would have been a 7 to 12 yard gain to long 25 plus long runs from his blocking on the same side of the field the run was designed to go. None was better than the one where he got two guys to spring Wadley against NW. The guy man handled corners and safeties and could crack back on LBs. If this kid can do that it'll certainly endear him to PT sooner than later. He may end up at TE, but with Iowa's young depth at that position I highly doubt it. I see him more being more like a Jacob Hillyer. A bigger WR who develops into a great run blocker and gives Iowa some size and muscle to utilize on the outside. I hope he can develop into a bit more a receiving threat than Hillyer ever did, but honestly I'd be just fine with him being a Hillyer clone. The Hawks need guys like that. If he ends up being the same player as Hillyer I'd take that in a heartbeat. Unselfish kids willing to do the dirty work on the outside aren't easy to find.
I said when I first came on here, that I wasn't that impressed with him and I'm still not. Just my 'opinion'. I hope he proves me wrong, but I've seen better WR's (once again, in my opinion) in the eastern Iowa area in the last 7-8 years that I think were better than him. Like a Kevyan Rudd (who could high jump 7'1). He was ignored because, like David Johnson, they thought he took plays 'off'. After seeing both (Martin and Rima) last year, I thought Jalen Rima was more athletic and had a higher 'upside', etc. etc.... There is too much emphasis being put on how kids compete in these 'camps' with no pads and against 'air' half the time. Doesn't impress me much, but it's big money for these camps and recruiting services. Watch, the 'trend' will change again in the next few years.........Another thing on Martin, he didn't get to this point by accident. He works his butt off. That's why I think with the combination of talent and make-up, he's a great fit here.
Holy Sheet!! Are you serious?I mean that looks impossible.Big game for Eno tonight. 314 rush yards and 6 TDs. 147 pass yards with 2 TDs.

Yeah I felt both he and T Smith weren't used as much as they could have been in the passing game. They were just rarely targeted for whatever reasonsSeveral times he generated a PI call. His height was a problem for several CB which explains the abnormal number of PI calls.
Quite frankly he was under-utilized. And I think his hands were better than many fans memories.
