Gesell, woodbury, White, Jok and Uthoff are playing the best BB of their careers. Clemmons is soid.Olaseni is terrific off the bench. Uhl is improving. Maybe Oglesby will get back on the track.

Enjoy the rest of the season. They won't win them all, but they will keep competing hard. A very unselfish bunch with tremendous leadership right now.

agreed. It sucks to say but hopefully today was a sign that Jok takes more minutes from Oglesby as well as Clemmons and Uhl. Oglesby should still get 2 minutes here and there in the game as a defensive body.

Also, how awesome did the combo of Gessel and Clemmons look at the top of the key in the 2-3 defense wow it was something.

Fans like this are borderline creepy. Your optimism is so unrelenting and unfounded you lose all credibility as a serious person.

GREAT win by the Hawks today, but..........

Clemmons is not "solid." He is one of the worse guards to ever wear the black and gold. His stat line today. 23 minutes, zero points, two assists/two to's. A typical line for him.

Uhl is not "improving." He has regressed significantly since the Minnesota game.

Oglesby has never been on track in 3.5+ years here but you're expecting him to suddenly find his groove down the stretch?

Rotation needs to remain at 8 with Clemmon's and Uhl's minutes managed unless they are actually providing something out there.

I think it is safe to officially write off oglesby. Unfortunately Fran will give him the McCabe treatment.

Its a nice mini streak....one win against a bad team, one against a pretty good team.
Can't regress now though. One loss against a Minney, Rutgers, or NW would be a big black eye....

No, actually, pessimists like you are definitely creepy.

Get a life. Anthony Clemmons is a terrific defender. Do you even watch the games?

Uhl is averaging 8 mins a game in the last 3 games so hard to assess whether he's regressing. He's only taken one shot in those three games. He could be hitting the Freshman wall. He wouldn't be the first. Jok didn't play for several games last year.

If Clemmons is so bad, why does he get so many more minutes than Dickerson? He's not even the worst PG on the team, let alone "one of the worst to wear black and gold." Ridiculous hyperbole. Besides, not scoring much is not so bad if you don't take many shots. As long as our offensive is getting good shots with Clemmons in the game, who cares if he scores or not? He's solid on defense, doesn't turn over the ball much, doesn't foul, and doesn't waste many possessions. This team has plenty of scoring threats.

Finally, I think OP suggested that Ogelsby get "2 mins here and there," not sure why you concluded that OP said he would find his groove.

Shocking that despite all these terrible players we appear to be the second best team in the Big Ten...

Fran's got it down to where 7 guys are getting the majority of the minutes as it should be. Uhl would be the 8th, but he's struggling a bit mentally it seems. He's got to get out of his head and just play...make the mistakes...but learn. All freshmen go through it...hopefully the light goes on and he just relaxes and plays with effort...it will be good enough as I think he has skills.

Uhl has been progressing just fine imo. I've seen improvement in his defense throughout the season. He's starting to block shots and make steals. He's also getting better at moving his legs and staying with his man when on the ball. He has shown his ability to shoot as well as drive the lane. He's a freshman, playing in his first year with no redshirt. It's common for freshmen to face mental hurdles as well as physical hurdles playing a much longer season than just a year ago in high school. I can't wait to see where Uhl's game goes over the next 3 and a half years.

I also think Dom has progressed as best as he can for being in the league his 1st year...the B1G is a brutal league and only the strong survive. He's had his share of bumps and bruises, battle scars, whatever you wanna call them regardless of his minutes....very seldom does he make a mistake, and he's shown signs of more to come...Fran is doing the baby step thing with him right now, next year his minutes should double, he needs to keep hitting the weights and work on his game, so right now we have no idea what "his" game really is, but I like what I see...

Uhl has shown me some things this year, but as nearly all freshmen are prone to do, he makes a mistake here and there and could be hitting the wall a bit. You see it all the time. Being a freshman in the Big Ten is a grind, to say the least. Ultimately, he's going to be a good player IMO.

I agree on the rotation - Gesell, White, Woody/Gabe, Uthoff & Jok should be getting the lion's share of the minutes (like 30+) with Clemmons spelling Gesell here and there, and Oglesby/Uhl getting a few minutes off the bench as appropriate, depending on their play.

After watching iowa and a lot of teams this year, i give up trying to say who should and who shouldn't get minutes. There is so much parity nowadays that it seems just as easy to win 3 games in a row as it is to lose 3 games in a row. that being said, we are playing well right now and hopefully we can continue this through the end of the year.

I agree now is no time to stumble, but I don't think MSU or INDIANA would call this same MI squad the HAWKS faced a BAD team. The HAWKS just spanked em hard at their house no less and made them look bad. Dominating MI and MD back to back was a pretty special accomplishment any way you look at it. Just maybe this is the year the HAWKS peak down the stretch (like teams are supposed to) and give us more fun times ahead! If they continue to move the ball and play defense like this they are going to be hard to beat.

Pretty much 100% wrong.

Saying that Clemmons is the worst ("worse") guard to ever play at Iowa and that Uhl has regressed is the dumbest statement I've heard in a long time.

I agree, I also like the fact that it's clear that Uhl has regressed since the Minnesota game when he had a great game against Ohio St, big 3 and the great reverse lay up finish, right after the Minnesota game. Dumb fans are dumb.

I want to see how the Hawks react against a bad MN team this week. If I see a relentless, hungry team, they will beat down Minney. A bad showing would prove this team is still roller coasting.

You're right, he's killing it. I actually thought he had a better game against Minnesota than he did when it turns out he only hit 1-3 but the one was a timely 3 point shot.

Since then he's 4-14 (5-18) counting Minnesota including ZERO shots and points in a combined 20 minutes of play vs. Maryland and Michigan in games we were well ahead in and his minutes have decreased - deservedly.

The whole point of this was that we need to shorten the bench, give the VAST majority of minutes to our top 6 down the stretch and spread Clemmons and Uhl in sporadically as actual DATA and not your clueless zeal supports that argument.

But you are right. Dumb fans are dumb. Some even more than they realize.
