Iowa State is building the south endzone stands. What is now a program on the rise will soon become a talent magnet that siphons off all of the best players around the Midwest and country. To the extent they siphon off all the good players in Iowa and the surrounding states, we'll be looking back on the 4-8 season in 2012 as the good ol' days.

First, Cyclones TV and now this. Barta better do something big.

I have to agree with this, ISU is fresh off a blowout performance in a huge, nationally televised night game, they have the south end zone being bowled in, there's no doubt there's a lot of momentum building over there. Plus their fans just seem to have a quiet confidence about the program.

I heard Ronald McDonald was going to be there to christen them with milk shakes and big macs for everyone.

Well, it will cut down on the wind...even if the seats are empty (see Indiana)

Ah jeez now their football program is stealing all the headlines from our program...

Barta should go ahead and fire Fran just to get us back on the front page of the Des Moines Register sports page. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Pierschbacher sees this press release and then decommits from Bama and picks ISU.

we're screwed.

Over/under on how many years before Iowa is forced to drop to FCS status? Or even eliminate the program altogether?

ISU is so gonna dominate the BB landscape for the next Hoiyears, and that alone was gonna force the Hawks into FCS status. This only steps up that time frame.

FCS is too generous. I think we just fold the thing for a year so everyone can transfer and then come back as a Pioneer League team and try to compete with Drake. I don't see us eliminating the program, but we'll need to get the program down to a suitable level where we won't have to play ISU anymore. By that point, Pollard will probably be the most powerful man in college athletics and will negotiate the terms of Iowa State's move into the Big Ten (after he rebuffs the Pac whatever and SEC) to replace the void left by Iowa. Ohio State and Michigan will be upset when ISU shatters the revenue sharing model and hoards all of the cash, but they'll have little choice when they need to add another team.

When they tear out the grassy hillsides, where will the ISU cheerleaders go for their quick snack?

They're gonna have to switch them to corn. It is my understanding that they get switched off a grass diet around November 1 anyway, so this is just pushing up that schedule by a few months. No big deal.
