The story turned out with Wisconsin losing twice to Iowa, if I recall correctly.
hadn't Wisconsin just become relevant in 2001? they were at best an after thought a couple years prior to that.

I realize Wisconsin is your Super Bowl but there is a great big world out there. You should check it out sometime. It has something called an NCAA tournament

Face it, Wisconsin is now a major sports "Program" now, not reliant on one coach. Once Alvarez got the ball rolling it hasn't stopped. I'm sure that everyone was saying that as soon as Alvarez stepped down that Wisconsin was going to suck in Football. 2-consecutive Rose Bowls with a chance at a 3rd on Saturday. That's a program, not based on one coach.

Outside of Ohio State, Florida and Texas, who has a strong major sports program over the last 10 years? We are talking about the only 2 revenue generating sports that really matter (Football and Basketball).
LSU? Great football, terrible bball
Michigan? Been down in football and just starting a resurgence in hoops
Alabama? Inconsistent if that hoops program
Stanford? Good football last 5 years, hoops has been mediocre
Arizona? Awful football in stretches
UCLA? Bad run of football until this year.

Facts are facts partner. Hell, go back even further, 15-20 years and the answer would be the same. Wisconsin's been good since 93' in Football and that's when they started their hoops success too with Stu Jackson and then Dick Bennett. Who cares what happens 30 years ago, no recruit was even alive then
