Emmanuel Bibbs?

Had to dig this up. Apparently Bibbs is the best TE in the Big12 which automatically qualifies him for best TE in the ******* world. Too bad he didn't stay at Iowa...I guess.
He's a talented guy. I still feel plenty good with the TE's we have.

Paul Clark is actually good for something...

Paul Clark ‏@cyclonereport Bibbs told me he spent one semester at Iowa as a "grayshirt", meaning he was not going to school FT, was not a member of football program.

Paul Clark ‏@cyclonereport
TE Bibbs was not a part of any Iowa signing classes. Reported that he signed with Iowa in April 2010. Prob just fin aid papers, not LOI.

i had not heard this name either. and being a 'grayshirt' does not keep you off the class list - i remember vandevelde was a gray shirt and he was still part of a recruiting class. different than a pure walkon.

I didn't think they were pursuing any more wr or te's for the next four years. I thought they were going with one wr/te sets....LIZARD.

I thought grayshirts were typically counted as part of the next recruiting class.

When a recruit grayshirts, he signs a letter of intent in February but doesn't report for fall practices with his teammates. He delays entry to the school until the spring semester of his freshman year, keeping the NCAA five-year eligibility clock from starting. During that first semester, he can't enroll in college as a full-time student, can't receive his scholarship, can't practice and can't be around the program in any official capacity.

importedAnkle, that is good info. But it didn't respond specifically about which recruiting class they are counted under. Are they typically counted in his "normal" class, or the one behind him? Thanks.

I'm not an expert here - i am going to use Julian Vandervelde as my example.

Vandervelde is listed as a member of iowa's 2006 class if you look at rivals. He committed to Iowa in July of 2005, official visit was December of 2005 but wasn't officially a Hawkeye until January 2007.

So the scholarship limits wouldn't have started until 2007, yet he had a letter of intent signed with his class of 2006.

You can see the same exact scenario play out for Alvis - listed as class of 2009.

I call B.S. on this 'Bibbs' grayshirt to iowa - he would be listed in whatever class he signed in.
