for ISU? ;)

Rutgers Scarlet Knights top scorer Eli Carter decides to transfer - ESPN New York

wow is Rutgers gonna suck for the next couple years, unless Jordan can really recruit. losing most of their team to graduation or transfer.

Yep, and I cannot blame the kids for wanting to leave. Jordan is going to bring in a style of play similar to the Princeton offense, it will be like Lick trying to bring Butler ball to Iowa. Rutgers is going to be bad for quite a while.

Carter has no way to land at Iowa; no scholly's available and he will most likely be available immediately, unless someone transfers from Iowa, not going to happen and I don't think it would happen even if that were the case.

for real? has he said that? apparently he was a HC somewhere else before, right? is that what he ran?

if so, i love it! we need all the wins we can get in this conference.

This is the guy who tried using the Princeton offense at the NBA level running it at Philadelphia in the 09/10 season. Jordan has had some success as an NBA coach having lead Washington to the playoffs 4 straight seasons.

But Rutgers is reeling right now, I would not expect much out of them for a few years.

Greyshirt Oglesby or Ingram? Oversign like Kentucky and expect/promote fallout?

Carter has some ugly numbers, a negative assist to turnover ratio, under 40% shooting, it does look he can get to the line and make free throws, but the rest of his game leaves a lot to be desired.

That Princeton offense seems to be working for Georgetown.

Not in the tournament. But really there's tons of variations to the Princeton offense, the Sacramento Kings ran an up tempo fast pace version of it with great success in the late 90's/early 200's. It doesn't have to be a slow paced offense.

That is kinda my point.....many disciples and many variations of the Pete Carill offense. Similar to the flex offense virtually everyone uses parts or variations of it.

I am not saying it does not work but not everyone wants to play in that style of offense, which is probably why players are leaving. Lick's style worked to, at Butler but not at Iowa. It may have at some point if given the time to recruit the kids that play well in that type of system.

Coaching scandal, players defecting, new coach with a new system = Major setback

That'll happen when you're the leading scoring on a crappy team.

Major setback from what? 12th place finishes in the Big East? There's really not much room for Rutgers to be set back.

His assist to turnover ratio is terrible. If I'm not mistaken, Fran and co cooled on Carter during the recruiting period for a reason. Fran has taken 1 transfer since at Iowa and he didn't (couldn't) even contact him. That transfer came from a successful program too. Fran has not contacted transfers. He is picky as he has said and glad he isn't contacting every transfer that "is the best on their team" often times they play for terrible teams and look better than they may be because of it.

I'm not saying rankings matter, but offers usually do. If you look at his profile, I don't know how you could make your argument hold true. Being the best on your team and playing for a terrible team may not always mean much, but the Big East is a good conference and he was the focal point of his team. Here is his HS profile if you're interested. Fran may not like the transfer route and that is up to him, he made it to coach at Iowa, who am I to tell him what to do.
