El Stinko - the worst

Pelini could coach and he actually built a team that could be competitive in the B1G. Frost will find out that a spread offense will simply not work that well in late October and November against a lot of Big Ten opponents. Nebraska will get better, but their ceiling is probably right where Pelini had them and then they'll have their day in the sun once or twice a decade.

Pelini had multiple 9 win years at Nebraska, that’s not easy to do. He also had Youngstown state deep into the FCS playoffs. Definitely not accurate. He’s a better coach than 50% of the guys currently at their positions in D-1

Yep, the guy was there 7 years during both Big 12 and Big 10 eras. His worst years were 9-4, 5-3 in conference. Nebraksa's fans just don't understand that with the crossover games and Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern having decent programs, there really ain't anything wrong with 9 wins. If you are hanging around that level and then have the year you get a few bounces or Wisconsin is down and you dodge some of the better teams from the east, you're gonna slide into 11 and 12 win seasons once or twice a decade. That's their high water mark now. That program ain't getting to the level Clemson is at right now ever again.

If KF, BF and Parker got hit by a bus or something tomorrow and Pelini was on the market, I'd take him in a heartbeat to be the head man. The guy understands Midwestern football and has deep roots around Ohio. To paint him as one of the worst coaches ever is laughable. More like Nebraska has one of the shittiest fan bases ever.

Pellini was also a good dc at Nebraska and LSU and other stops before being a head coach. I remember when he was a hot assistant and some of the gossip at the time was that he was losing at the interview game. Like he was the hot assistant but when an ad would interview him he would be a total bonehead. Kinda like they had a sense of foreshadowing things before it all went down in Lincoln.

Pelini is a talented coach but his mental issues are what will always hold him back. He's got no impulse or temper control and because of that he'll never endear himself to more than 10 or 20% of a fan base and lots of his players will hate him (even though a lot will go to war for the guy). I don't mind Bo at all but his personality just doesn't fit into today's day and age. Not saying it's right or wrong, just that it's why he never broke through into the top level coaching echelon.

He was born 50 years too late. Pelini has a Woody Hayes temperament in a Dr. Phil society.

His face doesn't help him.

I can't remember, did Nebby fans every really "buy in" with BO? Did they really believe he was going to bring them back to the promised land?
