Either QB could thrive vs poor teams

Any QB playing vs. Purdue, IU, IL, MN and Northwestern should look like a world beater.
the same should have been true when playing against NIU, Ball State and ISU.

Still can't believe how easy this schedule is. Just need to win games where favored (most or all of them going forward) for a great record.
if Hawks didn't play so badly the first three games they may have been favored vs. Pitt and everybody else this season.
There is more parity than ever in college football as Utah beating Michigan, BG beating IU and then IU bearing Mizzou proves.

In-game coaching becomes a bigger outcome influence with the parity. This includes personnel decisions. Iowa should win at least four of five next games, all five would be expected if not for expecting some kicking woes, Ruddock playing, or some hiccup along the way.

Go Hawks!

The personnel decisions made next week will make or break the rest of the season and the remainder of the KF tenure

Indiana was quite impressive on Saturday. They look like a team that could quietly win 8 games this year ala 2013 Minnesota. Not feeling as confident about that game anymore.

If Iowa improves as the season goes, either QB SHOULD be able to beat the other teams you mentioned.

All I know is Jake didn't thrive against 3 not so good teams.

Apparently, like most fans, you have a short memory. What is JR's overall w/L record at Iowa? How did he do last year? And, just so you don't over react to my comments, I think CJ played a great game at Pitt on Sat. and deserves serious consideration to start against Purdue.

Not sure what you want me to say.

i backed Jake as the starter all the way up until this game. No question Jake was better last year. But after watching 3 games of little to no offense against subpar competition and now seeing CJ put together scoring drives 1 after another, CJ has my support.

Purdue, IU, IL, MN and Northwestern

All of the above but IU seems to be bad, bad, bad this season. Just surprising how much NW has slipped. IL and Purdue performing as expected...crappy. MN AGAIN picked way too high in the Conf....they literally CANNOT pass.

It's not whether either or both QBs can thrive, it's whether or not the offense as a whole can thrive.

When there's a legit threat of a long ball....when there's a legit threat of a QB taking off with the ball on a zone read....when there's a legit threat of a QB strong enough to thread a needle...when there's a legit threat of a QB capable of throwing off the back foot with strength and accuracy....then the defense can't just load 8-9 guys in the box and handle both the run game and a "check down" passing game.

theres a reason the running game was better in the 2nd half....it's because Pitt had to respect more than just 15 yds of real estate beyond the LOS. If you can get most defenses to do that, then it opens up so much.

And it's obvious that CJ is the one that does that....hence the offense as a whole will thrive.

Good points, just the threat of CJ in the game improves the running game. I think we could run the ball 70% of the plays and the defense would still have to be cautious.
