Eickholt Rivals reports Fran says he is not movinh on

On the twitter verse folks were saying that Frans wife and daughter were at his press conference last night... Something they've probably never done before so that's kinda odd. I didn't see any of it but I did catch a part of what Izzo said and he of course doesn't want to see a coach like Fran gone. He went on and on for a few minutes about it.

He gave the 'be careful what you wish for' take. I look at it as it's just time. They've hit rock bottom with fan apathy and $ coming in. Now they aren't competing on the floor and can't even get into the BIG tourny let alone the NCAA one. It's yr 15 there's no 16 chances at it. It's time. Fran's like an old dog in that he's not going to make changes to how he conducts himself or coaching style. Scott lays out alot about how Frans put himself in this position on his recent pod with Rob Howe I encourage you all to check it out I see it on you tube.

Start the clock. I'd imagine between the next 2-3 weeks we'll hear something one way or another on Frans future.
Izzo didn't want to see Lickliter go either, and publicly said so. Unlike Todd, Fran has had some success against Izzo, especially recently.

I recall reading the same thing about Davis at the time. Probably in a Marc Hansen column. But that both parties benefited from the relationship - don't recall specifics, but likely along the lines that Davis was great for Iowa, gave the program some stability, continued a fun style of basketball, regularly made the tournament and always represented the school well. And in turn, Iowa gave Davis stability, financial security and a professional home in a profession that doesn't often allow for it.

All those things apply to the Iowa-Fran marriage, too.
Hansen might as well been Steve Alford's agent, though at the time I was ecstatic about the hire as well. Of course we all know what happened. Alford turned out to be an average coach with a sanctimonious attitude.

You're being too nice to Alford.
