EARLY SEASON GAMES

Dont really tell a lot. Good teams many times struggle as I think good coaches like to bring teams along without peaking too early. For you youngsters out there I was a freshman in 69-70 and Iowa struggled early. At the end of the year they were an inch away from playing for it all.
That being said there is concern. We dont really have a player that can take over a game. Marble is just too streaky and White is just not that type of player. The real worry is shooting. We are starting the year against inferior competition and are still unable to make shots especially 3s. You cant win if you cant make the 3 unless you have Kentucky talent. I think that will be the key to how far we go this year

What did Alan Iverson say about.......practice..........? That is what these games are, practice for the big ten season.

It is going to take a couple weeks for Fran to figure out what combos and rotations he likes etc. Gotta give it some time. Totally agree on the two missing ingredients - 3 Pt. Shooting and a game changing player. I think if we get one or the other we'll be great. I don't see the game changing player on the roster right now so we have to cross our fingers and hope we hit some 3s. There is a reason Fran was going so hard after Ulis, and he got bashed from some on this site for putting all his eggs in that basket. But Fran realizes we aren't gonna get to next level until we have a player with takeover ability. I would guess most final four and national championship teams over the last 10-15 years have had at least one all-american type player on the team.
