Early Iowa vs Wisky spread

This seems a little high but I think Kinnick is one of those stadiums where we get 5-6 points automatically. If so they are saying we would be pretty much even on a neutral field.

I've read Kinnick Stadium is a 3.5 point bump. Ohio State has the highest home bump and it is only 4.5 points. That would put Iowa as a 2 point neutral favorite.

I think certain betting sites carry different multipliers. I remember listening to Matt and Miller and Miller said that Kinnick was a 5 point house for the betting company he works with.

I like playing Wisky after their big emotional home win over OSU. Bielema doesn't shy away from letting ego's run a little, look at how their hyped up seasons have gone up on his watch (duds!).

i just hope we can find a way to spell Adam Robinson a little and keep him healthy. I don't want to see our O with him hurt.

Seriously? 5.5 is a lot more than I thought. I bet the line is no greater than 1.5 by Thursday. Also wouldn't be surprised if WI was favored by then.

To me this game is a toss up, with Iowa getting the slight home advantage. Seems like Wiscy and MSU are mirror images of Iowa in terms of talent. This will come down to coaching and play calling.

Here are a couple of reasons Iowa will be -5 (or more) in this game:

1. Wisconsin is 1-3 in their last four trips to Iowa City (and the 1 win was a 3 point victory in 06 - a 12-1 Badger squad beat a 6-7 Iowa squad by 3 points).

2. In the last 30 years, when both teams have finished the season with a winning record, Iowa is 10-1-1 against Wisconsin.....in thirty years, the Badgers only have one win against an Iowa team that finished the season with a winning record when the Badgers also finished with a winning record.

And I remember reading this little tidbit as well:

3. Only one team in the last 25 years has beaten a ranked team at home, then went on the following week to beat a ranked team on the road. That is a very tough task for anyone.

There are a TON of trends going against Wisconsin in this game....the kind of trends that the betting public knows about. I doubt the line will move much at all.

If the line moves at all, it'll be 1 point either way. No way it drops all the way to 1 1/2, and no way Iowa is a dog this weekend.

Thanks for the info. I would love to put a beating on Biel and his cronies.

I'm certainly not saying we are going to put a "beatdown" on them...but there are a significant number of trends indicating that we will likely win.

My guess: Iowa wins it 24-13.

I've been nervous about this and the MSU game. Still think we can and perhaps should win them, but it'll probably be good old fashioned, Big Ten football. More than the victories, I just want to see everybody stay healthy.

Anyway, hopefully the team is pumped up and ready to go for the next two weeks. If we play disciplined defense and smart offense, I think we pull these off.

I always get nervous with a team like Michigan who spreads it out or a team like Arizona who can throw it around. All the misdirection and what not get frustrating to watch. Waiting for a team to try to pound it right at us makes me excited. It plays right into our strength.

This is going to be a fun one and I think it will be close.
