Duke hits wall in second half in rescheduled game

God. Not that I don't love Gesell, but just how much better would this team be if we had Marcus Paige around? That guy is an absolute stud.

You know the difference between almost losing and losing, right?

Yeah I just think people are looking way too much into this short rest thing. Duke losing at UNC isn't really even an upset...hell they were only 2.5 point favorites...it's a rivalry game.

What will you say if they beat Syracuse on Saturday?

They lost to a good team on the road. No way to know if it was because of it being rescheduled.

I was thinking the same thing last night. I think he would have made the difference in those close losses and Iowa could have been a top 5 team right now.

I severely dislike Dick Vitale, but I loved that even he was ripping on the UNC fans for storming the court after that win :)

This is stupid, and people that rip on college kids for storming the court like they should act all professional are idiots. We are talking about ~18-23 young adults here, if they want to storm the court to celebrate with their team let them. People need to STFU about it.

Its going to turn into a safety issue at some point. A player on the opposing team is going to deck a fan, somebody is going to get trampled, etc.

But that is a different issue entirely, I am sure eventually someone will do something stupid. But Vitale wants students to act like they have been there before, to act all professional about it. These are young adults let them have some fun and enjoy a big win like this.

Didnt hear Vitale's comments last night so I dont know what he said.

I dont get caught up in what schools should and should not rush the floor based on their tradition or basketball history. Let 'em go if they want to but somebody is going to get hurt severely or killed at some point.

Fans have been rushing the court for as long as I can remember, and can't say I really remember hearing much about any incidents. Guess I'm not too worried about it. I won't sit here and say there is zero risk, but if it was that dangerous, I would've thought something serious would've happened by now. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly I didn't either, I am just assuming. If Vitale was voicing concerns over player safety then I retract everything I said. But knowing Vitale I doubt it, he was just jealous that his favorite team got beat.

And you have probably never heard of a college basketball player going into the first row of seating and pushing a fan until a couple weeks ago either.

Pretty sure a college football player punched a fan in the face rushing the field a couple years ago (Texas A&M maybe)?

I agree with this completely. While I'm not one that feels it should be prohibited or is classless (don't have an opinion on the subject) I find it ironic that there is the unwritten rule that a player should never go into the stands, yet the players don't have that same luxury when fans storm the field/court.
