Dual threat QB's

Regardless of whether they are a true "duel threat" QB or not, if a QB demonstrates the ability to use their feet to extend plays or to simply get out of the pocket it affects what the defense can run and can help his WR's find extra time to get into open space. I don't think we'll ever depend, or need to depend, on a QB to consistently run the ball or be the bulk of our rushing attack, but we definitely could benefit from someone who is comfortable as a ball carrier or someone that can use their feet to keep plays alive in the hopes of finding some separation down field.

Well, actually...

Mayfield was a 3-star "pro-style"who walked on at Texas Tech

Mariota, also 3-star, chose Oregon over his only other offer, Memphis

Not exactly "well known", "they don't come to a place like Iowa" recruits.

Ok I was wrong on 2 of them, good catch there.

You are so right. When I watch the really successful teams play, like Alabama and clemson and ohio state, while they do have more talent the big difference is that they can make plays when the play breaks down and we cant. So much of that is an elusive quarterback.

Banks, CJB and Tate to a "t". Chandler was surprisingly mobile. Pre-injury, Rudock could move a bit. Jake C could move, but that was about it. Stanzi, could extend plays, but rarely had to do that.

Actually, the difference is that, unless in a CFP/NY6 Bowl game, they seldom, if ever, have plays "break down".
