"Drake doesn't deserve to be on the same court as us."

Most of them also think it's more of a mentality issue than it is talent. They think they have top tier talent. They definitely think they have NCAA tourney type talent which is debatable at this point. I would argue most of them think they have more talent than most of the teams in the B12 outside of KU and maybe Baylor, but I would absolutely disagree with that.

They don't have any options in the paint. None. That's a glaring issue and it keeps getting exposed. I said it last year and I keep saying it. Losing McKay and Niang was huge. Cyclone fans want to downplay it. They've been trying to downplay it since last season. It's really not that difficult though. Just look at the way they play. They are so much easier to beat when they are one dimensional. If a team can rebound and do their best to defend the perimeter then they can beat ISU. They have zero answers inside.

Yeah, they clearly aren't anywhere near as talented as last year. They have replaced Niang and McKay with nobody really. Also people forget how solid Nader was.

Clown fans thought they could just tap into Transfer U, but forget this is Prohm, not Hoiberg. Prohm is like Fran, he would prefer to build from the ground up with Fr. He couldn't get an impact big man to replace Niang/McKay/Nader and you are correct they are getting exposed there.

The Big 12 has several teams that are currently playing at a higher level than the Clowns. They'd better get their smack talk out of the way now while they can.

The truth is, ISU is a middle of the pack, Big 12 team. They were the same last year and the year before.
Last year they were lucky enough to get Iona and Arkansas Little Rock in the NCAA tourney before getting bombed by the only decent team they played in the tourney. The year before they were bounced by the worst team in the NCAA tourney. They are so used to having the worst football program in the country that having a middle of the pack team in basketball makes it seem like they are a National Power.

Ouch.....Maybe I gave ISU too much credit last year now that you lay it out.

I was just looking at the B12. I wouldn't be shocked if they end up being a lower half Big 12 team. Several B12 teams haven't played anyone with a pulse yet so it's tough to tell if they are actually decent or not. I just think ISU's lack of presence in the post is a huge deal. The only way it isn't is if they can start shooting lights out, but that's more difficult to do when opponents know that's really your only strategy. Even the middle of the pack B12 teams have better post players than the Clones.

Porhm looks like he's in over his head. He's playing with mostly Hoiberg recruits too and they lose their top 6 guys this year. ISU looks to be a bubble team this year, but they definitely won't be making the tourney next year which will officially kick off the Prohm era.

ISU fans need reminded that Drake has been to the Final Four more recently than ISU.
They will struggle with Baylor, KU, and WVU for sure. Oklahoma lost to UNI so....Okie State is ok I think. Texas isn't great yet, but they have a solid head coach. Kansas State and TCU are bad. TT lost to Auburn and hasn't played anyone else. If I had to guess ISU will be 10-8 in conference and on the bubble. Probably getting in as an 8 or 9 seed.

I don't disagree with anything that you've said. However, I would argue that all of the teams you said are either mediocre or bad are absolutely capable of beating ISU, and some of them likely will. It's just a matter of how many. I think Texas, KState, TCU, Okie State, and OU are all more than capable of beating ISU. Plus I don't think ISU is capable of beating Baylor, KU, or WV. So for them getting into the tourney will be a matter of eeking out wins over the teams that they should beat. I'm not even sure it's fair to say they should beat those teams. They don't have an inside presence, and some of those teams do.

I think a lot of people are having trouble seeing ISU as what they are this year because of what they have been in past years. They are a team with good guards, but no inside threat. Which makes them very average. I think they are still getting some credit that they probably don't deserve.

Very good points. I say 10-8 expecting that they will beat a couple of the top level teams at home, and lose a couple of bad games. This group seems a bit mentally fragile, so they could also just fall apart completely and only win 7 or 8 conference games and miss the dance. That would be fun.

I think this is exactly what's going to happen. Now, part of that is exactly what I want to happen so I'm sure there's some bias in there that's making me want to predict that, but I do think there's a strong possibility they have a meltdown during the heart of the B12 schedule. I think they've been overrated since people first started making season predictions for this year. You don't lose a guy like Niang without serious setbacks, and when you add the loss of their other big in McKay to that it was just too much for me to listen to people act like they'd be fine.

Nadar hit some big shots for them too. He was a big part of that team. Next year when they start over, it should be interesting.

That's true. I completely forget about Nader all the time. He was a clutch shooter for them last year.

Cyclones beat Drake by 17 and winning huge tonight. Not sure why so many were concerned with them. Looks like they are back on track. They have big mouths because they have big egos based on they've proven how good they've been over the past 6 years. Talk trash better back it up, they certainly have the past 6 years.

They struggled vs Drake big time. Both Drake and MVSU are 300+ RPI teams. They won both games, but probably dropped 20 points in the RPI. That is how bad those two teams are.

Lol okay Cyclone fan. They were tied with Drake (ONE win Drake) with less than 5 minutes to go in the second half. The team they beat tonight has ZERO wins. Yea, their big wins against teams that are a combined 1-22 are REALLY impressive. You aren't even putting much effort into this tonight troll.

Lol B for effort. F for execution.

How good was that? 5th in their league last year. Wow.
Bounced by the worst team in the NCAA tourney in the first round the year before.

Yup, no wonder these guys are so cocky.. Conference titles and final 4's virtually every year..
