Don't over react to A-Rob's great day

Don't bank on A-Rob having the same day vs Wisky. It is not a knock on him. It is a knock on Mich. Wisky's D is much much better and they will be stacking the box. Nothing we have not seen before, but this game will be won and lost on the arm of Stanzi and the OL protection. I hope Kenny O picks them appart with the pass. Just my opinion.

I agree that it is very unlikely that ARob is going to have another 140 yard day and that this game will be won through the air, but ARob is going to play a huge role if we are going to win, because it is going to come down to his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, and more importantly pick up the blitz.

He had 91 yds on 20 carries @ Camp Randall last year, so him getting to 100 isn't improbable. However, I agree that Wisky will aim to take away that part of our game, especially knowing there's virtually no experience behind AR. Will KF relent this time, facing those 8 man fronts?

He also had 74 yards on the road last year against OSU, 2 weeks after a high ankle sprain. The kid is special. I don't think he'll duplicate last week's performance, but it's possible and here's why: ARob rarely gets driven backwards. When he takes a hit, he's typically moving hard enough to drag the pile a bit or at least fall forward for an extra yard or two. He may not have a rush over 25 yards Saturday, but I could see him putting together a very nice statistical day based on 3 yard stops becoming 5 yard carries.

He continues to be underrated every week. I for one am amazed at how successful he has been this year.

We all know the kid is tough and plays with heart, but I thought we really needed a more explosive back to be successful this year. That is why I was really disappointed with the Wegher situation and Jewel's injury.

However, game after game ARob delivers big for the Hawks. He allows the line to create opportunities and he makes the most out of all those opportunities. He holds onto the ball even with 3, 4, 5 or 6 players tackling him. I was critical of his catching abilities, however he made an impressive catch and fantastic run to put the game away.

I am excited to see what else he will do this year and I am damn happy he is our running back.

Iowa will need to run the ball to keep our defense off the field. ARob is our guy back there,so if he does not have at least a decent day,we are probably in trouble. Pass to set up the run. Get the lead thru the air, then run to manage the clock.

I wouldn't bet on a huge performance, but he's fully capable of a lot of yards. More than that however, as somebody else mentioned, I want to see him make catches, pick up the small yards when necessary, and help pick up the blitz/pressure.

If he only ends up with 50 yards, on some 20 carries, but those yards were helping move the chains, then I won't complain.

IMO, one of the biggest things to keep in mind about ARob is that he's JUST A SOPHOMORE. We're used to him because we've seen him play in 18 or 19 games now, but for a kid his age, with his fairly limited experience, he's beyond exceeding my expectations. Imagine him as a junior, with a solid year of experience as THE guy in the backfield. Then imagine him as a senior, a 4-year starter playing behind 3 of the guys currently blocking for him, and 2 other highly-recruited linemen (whether they're Donnal, Blythe, Walsh, etc.). He's going to go down in history as one of our best backs. Period.
