I said if UNI beat Iowa look for this thread. Well, CMU is just as bad IMO, so I decided to get it going. I actually thnk Stoop would come to Iowa.

Do you honestly think Barta would pony up 5-6 million a year for Stoops? That is what it would take for Stoops to even take the phone call.

Yeah, I bet he would. And I doubt it would take much more than what he gets at OU. He loves Iowa, he wore an Iowa sweatshirt to the Insight bowl 2 years ago. I think he would love the opportunity to take Iowa over.

Stoops would have come to Iowa with joy.. back then. But, Oh No.. we had to have a big fancy selection committee and hem and haw around and Oklahoma offered for him, and WHAM! It was too late. He'd accepted their offer and was lost to us.

Now, of course, we hear all the "We didn't really want him", "He was never under serious consideration", etc...

Even if we had the $$$ to offer him now, I don't think there's a chance in a Blue Moon that he would want to come here.

As nice as it would be, he'd have to be blinded by love... and stupidity. He's got a good thing going where he's at and has a lot of leeway before the fans would run him out of town. If he comes here and struggles, some fans won't hesitate to run him out of town after 3 or 4 years. At the moment, some rebuilding is required. That's not the case where he's currently at. Not to mention, he can cherry pick kids out of Texas with ease since it's not very far from home and allows their families to attend more games.

He'd have to really love Iowa to give up the job he has now. He's got a cushy setup and if it were me personally, I wouldn't leave unless it were a step up or on par with better weather/more money. So basically USC, Florida, Florida State, Miami(iffy) or NFL.

Hell, if we're talking former players switching jobs to coach at Iowa, I'd take Bret Bielema at this point, even as semi-pathetic as Wisconsin is this year.
