Iowa is probably going to name a new defensive coordinator in the relatively near future. Why don't you do some real analysis on that issue, instead of issuing "edicts" about the bowl game. By the way, Iowa is about a 17 point underdog against Oklahoma. They will probably lose the game. In your world, does that automatically mean that we need to fire Ferentz and his staff? I won't be fooled by the bowl result (win or lose) anymore than I was fooled by the last 3 bowl games (all wins). Frankly, all I want to see is the team improve over the next few years (which I believe will happen).
Here is the reality: Ferentz is under contract for many more years. He has a good track record of success. He has his team in another top bowl game against a national opponent. The school cannot afford to let him go anyway.
Why not face that reality? I really don't understand the point of your post. Whether you like it or not, Ferentz is going to be the coach at Iowa for the foreseeable future. What are you trying to accomplish? It seems like a complete waste of time to constantly trash this coaching staff.
Frankly, if this team defeats Oklahoma as a 16 or 17 point underdog, I would celebrate that accomplishment. You can build a program on those types of wins, similar to what Iowa State is trying to do after the Oklahoma State upset.
Am I missing something here?
If our schemes are antiquated, how did we beat #13 Michigan this year? #12 Missouri last year? #6 MIchigan State last year? If you talk about the losses, why not talk about the wins?
