Does Ferentz coach past 2020?

No way. I suspect he'll get run out of town before then. Stale/bland/average/mediocre football year after year after year will eventually cause the fan base to turn on him. I appreciate everything he's done for us, but his reluctance to change or doing anything outside of the norm will be his downfall.

My guess:

1 - He's already made tons of money;

2 - Judging from his press conference demeanor he's getting fed up with the criticism;

3 - Therefore, he'll likely leave on his own, after a couple more seasons (that will look a lot like the last two).

I don't see KF here in 2020. That would make it a 20+ year tenure. That's a really long time. Especially if he keeps going 7-5 every year.

IMO it's more likely KF retires or maybe takes an NFL job before he ever gets fired, though.

I'm starting to wonder if the "shelf life" for a coach at Iowa is 12 years... After Hayden's 12th year he never really got it going again.

And Mr. Davis was at Iowa for 13 years. Maybe it's no coincidence that KF has also had 13 years, and people are getting restless, saying everything is "stale", etc.

KF is in a position where his primary concern is his legacy. He has wealth and the admiration of his peers. Legacy is all that matters from here.

He has 48 wins to beat J. Hayden Fry on all time wins.

If he goes on a run in the next two years, and he cuts that number to 28, I see that record becoming the goal.

Otherwise, I think keeping the program in a place where it is respected and then handing it off to the coach of his choosing is the goal.

Say Brian Ferentz becomes an NFL offensive coordinator in the next 5 years.

Do you think Iowa would name him head coach with a couple years of offensive coordinator under his belt? I suppose it depends, in part, on how Iowa does in the couple years under Kirk Ferentz leading up to that...

Good grief, NO! Hiring someone because of who there father is makes no sense. Like all the Hawk fans who wanted Keno Davis to replace Lickliter. What a disaster that would have been.

Even after a few years as Belichick's offensive coordinator (if he was to be promoted to that position)?

Iowa didn't look outside the "family" tree last time around...imagine he wasn't Kirk's son. He'd still be a candidate, I'd assume (again, assuming he is an offensive coordinator at that point).

taking a OC from the pro's under Beilichick's no matter who it is would be a good choice

as for Hayden his Assitant coaches started to get Better jobs elsewhere
Alveras to Wisc,not only did he leave but he took Philbin the O-L coach and lead recruiter in the NJ area, and some speculated that he took some of the top prospects in that class and left Hayden the bag and scrambling to replace those recruits
Snyder left
Patterson left
all you have to do is look at all the coaches that were under Hayden coaching elsewhere
there is alot to be said for keeping your staff together
look at PSU how many coaches have left to coach elsewhere?

and I dont/wont blame him....
